He didn't want Gyokeres after he decided he wanted Sesko, it wasn't the case that he was open to either or, thats not the picture thats been painted in the reports.

Maybe, off course people can change their mind, but he did consider him. We actually bought only one player from that list last summer window in Calafiori. We bought two more this window, Zubimendi and Gyokeres. Some that we didn't buy are Nico Williams, Joan Garcia and Jorrel Hato. We chose Madueke, Kepa and Mosquera instead. My point is I strongly believe Gyokeres won't be treated like a totally out of the blue signing like Park Chu Young just to accommodate Havertz.

I'm also of the belief it was a priority listing for Arteta, not a case of DO NOT WANT.

His priority list was: Isak, Sesko, Gyokeres.

My main concern about Arteta preferring Sesko is if it's down to aerial presence, because honestly we're leaning far too heavily on that these days IMO, and Gyokeres is 6'2" anyway ffs.

Oh no no, don't get me wrong, thats not what I am saying. He has been brought in and will be an integral player for sure. My point is that, from what I saw and read I didnt get the feeling Arteta wanted Gyokeres, like really wanted him and with reports of Berta pulling in one direction and Arteta in the other that confirms it to me.

I liken it to the old computer wars, Spectrum ZX vs Commodore 64 and Atari ST vs Commodore Amiga. Whichever computer you wanted, if you got the other you would feel disappointed but eventually you would come round and be glad you got something.

If we're really an elite club, then he has to bench Havertz. doens't matter how much we paid for him or how much his wages are.

He's looking terrible in preseason, really bad.

However I don't judge players if its not a full season game but.........

His level is concerning

You people have no proof that Gyorkeres was not considered by Arteta.
The club was looking into several forwards including Gyorkeres and Sesko, but as it happened, Gyorkeres deal went through for several favourable situations, including the fact that the player was extremely keen on moving to Arsenal.
It'll be extremely unlikely that Arteta would have survived at Arsenal with the owners and the FD against him in choice of players.

Yes we do actually..........

Arteta tried to sign Sesko in January but were told he's not available till summer.

Berta had contacted Gyokeres as soon as he found out he was coming to Arsenal as he wanted him to be his statement signing.

Berta gets to Arsenal and finds out Arteta is sweet on Sesko and has been wooing him since before January.

What's happened is Arteta got embarrassed (again) because as talks began Sesko's agent said they wont put too much pressure on RB while Gyokeres put his foot down about it, then Sesko and his people had high wage demands while Gyokeres and his agent dropped their wages to force a move.

........in the end Arteta had to concede that Gyokeres was cheaper, more willing to fight for the move and so would of looked an idiot choosing Sesko with the board raising eyebrows when Gyokeres is the more proven player.

This was all reported by the same itk's that told us we were getting Gyokeres (Fabrizo etc) so why should we not believe it.......when we know that we were dithering back and forth, Sesko looked like he was the early favourite and we bid for him in January?

Basically thankfully Berta has saved Arteta from himself which is concerning when our manager has such poor judgement with choosing attackers.

Not worried yet but same scenario as last season
Left side shocking
Ode all day on the right leaving the central blank and was shockingly bad again.

We need somebody to play CAM that can support both sides

I am of the belief that Arteta preferred Sesko for his youth, and by that I mean Sesko's personality and acclaim would be weaker, and impose less of a threat to Arteta's egomania. Gyokeres was the correct choice, and we should be thankful for Berta honestly.

Somebody on Twitter said it best; if you asked Havertz fans what they thought his best attributes were, you'd think they were describing a boxer.

Havertz in the best Arsenal team in 20 years: 29G, 13A = 42 G+A

Nico Pepe in the worst Arsenal team in 20 years: 27G, 21A = 48 G+A

Both played ~6600 mins, Havertz got kid glove treatment, Pepe got the iron fist.

Well it's definitely Arteta last dig at the pig, and with the way the fixture list is I can see him being the first manager casualty
