he was bang average.

If that’s what you take from that then you are spastic.

Arteta was good for us simple as that. If you compare to Cesc then he was average, if you compare to Xhaka then he basically is Xavi. Either way he was more than capable, reliable and a good player.

Santi, he was nothing more than average for us. slow but kept the ball moving. His Arsenal career is summed up by the phrase "meh".

Tbh I think his last season and probably the 3 final months of the one before have made people forget how good he was when he first came in. By the time he left he’d turned to shite because he had no legs but at the start I thought he was good.

Business has just picked up. Strong rumor today was Gattuso to replace Ancelotti and it looks like its happening. Wouldn't surprise me to see him here at Arsenal and incharge by the Everton game.

I have a little bit more hope now if we get him, hope we can still win the Europa.

I'd be happy with ancelotti as a stop gap til the end of the season.

Not happy with Ancelloti, he's as passed it as Wenger.

He'll literally be coming here for a pay cheque nothing more.

He's got authority but not much else going for him at the moment.

What's his football philosophy or style of play, favored formation etc??

Yuuuuup.

Ancelotti, like Rafa, is past it at the top level and would be a pointless appointment if we want to go forward imo

He's been a really good man manager throughout his career. However, his most fatal flaw is probably his lack of rotating. If a starting XI can remain healthy throughout the season, then it's okay, but those seasons are few and far between.

I don't think he has a favored formation. Rather, he adapts a formation according to the players he has. He used his famous 4-3-2-1 Christmas tree at Milan, 4-2-3-1 and 4-2-2-2 and 4-3-3 with PSG, 4-3-3 with Madrid, 4-2-3-1 with Bayern, and 4-4-2 with Napoli.

His philosophy is a lot like Wenger's actually: let the players go out and express themselves.

But like I said when we hired Emery, Emery is a poor man's Ancelotti. Both men are good for a cup run but underwhelming in the league.

Ancelotti's best is a Champions League title or League title. We need someone that can win the Europa League and push for a top 4 finish. He may not be at his best but he's still good enough to help us achieve that. Plus, someone with experience of beating Jose, Pep, Klopp and the rest of the Prem managers has to have some value. He may not be a long term appointment but over the next 2 years, he may help. I doubt he'll be screaming for the Board to spend billions so that could work in his favour.

id be happy to give ancelotti a go. i mean i think we can do better but he's not the worst. my worry with him is his training methods which are apparently outdated and basic, whereas we need deep root surgery, especially on our defence. having said that, whenever he's been in charge of a team we've not seen the team defend in a shambolic way so hopefully he'll sort the defence out.

will definitely give him a chance though. will mainly be relieved it's not arteta.

Yes, they can. But I can guarantee you, nobody else linked with us has a more successful record in the Champs League, Premier League or other top leagues around Europe. Statistically, nobody else can compare and most of candidates we have been linked with have lost to Emery at some point if they have played his side.
Also, what is the sense in looking just at head to head games vs Emery when he won't be a Premier League coach? That's no way to asses a coach.

emery has a load of trophies to his name, what was it worth? sod all. pochettino has nothing to his name yet id take him in a heart beat. it's not about trophies and past achievements but more about what a manager can do. i don't doubt we'd improve under carlo, i mean it'd be pretty hard not to, but would it take us to a completely different level? im not convinced.

someone else posted a detailed assessment of nagelesmann, outlining his tactics, strategy & philosophy. i was impressed. i done some more research and have warmed to him. im willing to change my mind on carlo but you're not putting forth a convincing argument.

If you don't know about Carlo Ancelotti or the difference between a three time Champions league winner to a three time Europa League winner, I don't think there is much point in talking football with you. If you're looking for an argument from me to sway your opinion then something is really wrong here. His record speaks for itself and is more than qualified for the role.

in other words you can't.

you could have just said that at the beginning and we would have saved ourselves 3 hours of debate.
