There is a very real danger of Ozil II - three years on a 32 year old with a guaranteed 40m wages bill and zero transfer value, are we sure? With football no longer cash rich this seems like a massive gamble.

As opposed to what? Replacing him with Arkaduiz Milik or someone of that level. Remember our struggles in repacking rvp with chamakh, podolski and Giroud?

Fair point, but if you think we could have replaced Ozil with a cardboard cutout and saved 80m ... there is no guarantee that a 32 year old Auba will do any better ... if he can stay at the same level as last season it's a no-brainier, but that's exactly the same thinking before we re-signed Ozil. There is a reason 95% of players don't play in the EPL past 30/31, nobody can stop the match of time.

Christ, never thought we'd have people complaining when it actually looks like we might keep our best goalscorer in years...

Look Ozil cannot be the example for everything. He’s personally not motivated added to which the change in systems doesn’t suit him. Auba is different. Auba at 31 seems fitter and sharper than Henry did at 29 when he left arsenal. That isn’t to say Auba was better than Henry, it’s just they are different players. There is nothing to suggest that Auba would decline significantly in the next 2-3 seasons.

more like vardy imo. We could sell him for 30 million and spend more money on a lesser player. People are deluded if they think in this climate clubs are gonna spend 50 million on a 31 year old striker. Also Auba can just sit out and leave on free next season. Reality is we cant attract any class striker, we can only take risks

Hope he does the job today big game for us to see where we are at, and hopefully be the catalyst for Auba to sign the thing

Auba's not worth keeping for another season on huge wages. If you barely contribute to the general play you should atleast be able to finish one of your 2 clear cut chances. It happens way to often with him in bigger games.

I swear Auba always has spells where it takes him 3/4 chances to score.

Misses too many crucial chances.

Still our best player tho

He's gone :(

Can't blame him. Best striker in the league and forced to play in the left. Still top scorer last season and amongst it again this season

Given it his all but ineptness has cost us our main man again.
