Yeah, we really fell apart to an unnecessarily high degree after Per left the pitch. Absolutely no reason why you can't still keep possession and keep the same pressure in the middle, even if you fall off a few yards and cede the ball more, we went off the deep end. Credit to WBA for playing good football though - they may have hoofed it about a bit but they also passed really well and exploited our weaknesses well, just lacked composure infront of goal. Lukaku might end up being a real player.

Well it doesn't help when you make 3 defensive changes inviting more pressure. Taking off Santi who was chasing down where as Giroud was doing diddly squat another mistake. End of the day we managed to dig deep and even if we did it in a shakey manner, we overcame the problem where as in the past we've been destroyed, Newcastle 4-4 anyone?

Also, Per Mertesacker presents - the back tackle.

Saw his 'assist' on MOTD. You mean his shot that was going wide and turned it? Do me a favour.

Missed the game yesterday, gutted because I had to give my ticket away but I watched the replay today.
We were outplaying them 11 v 11 but we became our own worst enemy and nearly let them back in it with Mertesackers red card. I would still put him back in after his suspension because he is a calming influence at the back and all of our defenders are prone to individual errors anyway.
Rosicky was great and Gervinho carried on his good form. Don't think Giroud played that bad but we couldn't get the ball to him enough. Defensively, after the red card we nearly self-destructed by playing too deep, Sagna playing too narrow giving Lukaku loads of space and the midfield not staying tight enough. I can't criticise too much though since we got the win so there's no need for negativity. Lets hope we continue our run next week against Norwich.
