PS3 Help

Postby Gunner Down Under » Fri Oct 22, 2010 1:53 am

After downloading the system update about a month ago, I find that I can't connect the PS3 controller wirelessly- it needs the USB cable or the controller just flashes all four lights and the PS3 can't detect.

I've got enough wiring to connect both my controllers to the PS3 but I find it an awful hassle doing that when it's meant to be wireless and not feel like a PS2.

I've tried pressing the reset button but that doesn't work either.

Help anyone?

Had the same problem as well. but the problem with the controller got nothing to do with the update.
Basically the batteries in the controller are dead and can't hold any charge.
you can probably grab the battery of ebay or something.
better still, bring it to sony and have them replace it

I don't think so, it occurred straight after downloading the update and both my controllers are affected including the one I bought just a month before the update itself

What software version are you running?

There was a problem about 6 weeks ago when they released 3.52 - which caused connectivity issues to Network, and controller connectivity issues too.

They've since re-released a 'new' 3.50 - which has fixes for the 3.52 errors, and includes the BluRay 3D upgrade.

Make sure you're running 3.50 and then try and reconnect pal.

Not sure, but I'll check it out then I can next use it.

Yeah I had planned to delete the update and redo it

When mine just flashes and doesn't connect I usually do the following...

1. Hit reset
2. Put the wire in and press the PS button
3. Wait for it to assign to a slot
4. Take the wire out and it should flash for a few seconds and go back to it's slot, I press the PS button whilst it's flashing too, not sure if that actually helps though :)

Oh and where do you check that you've got the system upgrades? I've looked into it once but I can't remember where to find it again, tried for a few minutes last night

To check the version of your system software, go to (Settings) > (System Settings) > [System Information]. The information is shown in the [System Software] field.

I searched this up on google, and found this

http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/09/ ... messed-up/

So the new update disables counterfeit PS3 controllers that look and feel the same as the real ones. Now I've bought my controllers off Ebay so that could be possible but they still work if I put in the USB cable, which proves and disproves this theory.

I dunno tbh

I'm about to head onto my PS3 to have a look at it again

*3 Hours Later*

It's Version 3.50, I'll probably have to stick with my trusty USB cables then :)

Okay guys I've got another problem here

My internet modem crashed about a month ago and I had to stick to using a loan modem, that worked great until the permanent modem arrived.

Now however I find that I'm able to sign into the PSN, for about 10, 15 seconds until it says 'Ethernet Cable not connected' and it signs in again, etc etc and the cycle keeps going.

It's obviously an issue with the new modem but I'm not quite sure what's wrong with it. It obtains the IP address and everything, it runs like you'd expect it to run apart from the fact it only stays for 10, 15 seconds before cutting off.

Oh and I use a wired connection, with a NetGear DG834GV modem.

Should I switch over to wireless or is it something else?

*EDIT*

Okay now it says it has the error DNS 80710102 (I've checked this up on the internet but there's a million options and I don't know which one to use), the internet connection is not detected at all, but the IP address is if I do it manually, things are just going from bad to worse on this front
