They have a fourth official who has a TV screen on the sideline. Considering all the officials are miked up now, surely it would only take around 15-20 seconds to inform the referee that the ball crossed the line. Goal line technology is a must. More so for contentious decisions like this.SE13 wrote:f**k me, they couldn't have put a ball that size over!
Just wondering about a debate regarding the goal, but I just get the feeling everyone will say it changed the game. I've been banging on about it for the best part of three years here, and the best part of 10 years elsewhere....

Considering 44 years that Germany have had to live with Geoff Hurst's "goal" I think its all even now.

No. Germany would have thrashed that shit team regardless of if that goal was given. Would England have won the world cup in 66 if they didn't get that dodgy goal? HUGE difference.
In 1966 it was the "3rd goal". The Ryan Babel goal if you like. That was a killer blow and England wouldn't have scored the 4th.
Ain't close to even.

Lol you German now IMF? I just thought it was funny because of the two teams involved and how similar the two incidents were.

lol no I'm not German but you're not the first I've heard say it. You can't compare the two goals at all.

What goes around comes around. Pity it took 44 years. It's typical England though. They always have to create excuses and myths about why they went out, which means that they never have to look within at their own failings and ineptitude.
