Next summer is going to be challenging in many ways. There's a big mismatch between what we need to do and what we realistically can do. As such, we'll be forced to make some damaging compromises yet again - unless we're brave enough to think outside the box.

Excluding the players out on loan this season, we have just 19 players under contract for next season. That alone means we have to bring in at least five players just to bolster the numbers. Given our lavish spending over the last three years as well as our top heavy and bloated wage bill, we'll likely be forced into some damaging compromises such as bringing back some of the players on expiring contracts and reintegrating some of the deadwood out on loan.

On top of that, our hands will be further tied by some of the awful decisions we've made in the past. We're all desperate for a top class striker, but how realistically can we sign one this summer? Our two highest paid players are both strikers, Havertz and Jesus, and the player we'll want to bring in will ask for ever more money than these two. Quite frankly, we can't afford that without offloading one of the who, which is all but impossible.

Our best bet is to take a page out of Liverpool's playbook. We should to sell a player for an enormous fee and reinvest those funds in two to three key players who will make the difference. The ideal candidates for this are Saka and Saliba, both of whom can fetch a huge fee and are entering the second last seasons of their contracts in the summer. It's a high risk, high reward strategy, and I think it is our best and last chance to build a title winning squad.

Another strategy to freshen things up is to give a new manager a chance with the squad. A change in management can give a new lease of life to an ailing project. Sadly, this is never going to happen, so Hail Mary it is. Doing what we've done so far will result in us falling short again next season and guarantee the failure of The Process™. We need to do something radical to salvage the potential of this squad.

It didn't have to be this way, but the costly errors we've made have forced our hand. Personally, I think it is realistically too late for a big trophy anyway, but the strategy I've laid out might be just enough to turn the tide.

Its galling that we are paying what we are paying for two CFs and neither are what we need !

We should have never signed either of them, but now we're stuck with them. You can't make mistakes like that and expect to win big trophies.

The goals will come from everywhere. And one more thing… Havertz does more.

£110m in transfer fees
£125m in wages paid over a 5 year contract

It's set us back years.

His arrogance is galling. He worked with Jesus at City. And he saw Havertz struggle at Chelsea. He still gave them record deals.

Over 30 Arteta transfers and we look thread bare as a squad,
I don't trust his talent ID at all, imo he was lucky on the back of Emery to win an FA cup a team he dismantled. His better players have been developed within the academy a set up that long out stays Arteta managerial time. But it's his lack of getting the squad players in tune that's the biggest flaw, being consistent wins titles

I am not looking forward to this summer transfer window! I am not convinced Arteta knows what the hell he is doing and not sure this Berta chap will make any difference whatsoever. We had a DoF last summer and look how that turned out ! :BangHead:

That probably means Tierney, ZInchenko out for no money, plus Tavares, Viera, Lakonga, Nelson , Butler Oyedeji and Marqhionos out for very little money.

Obviously Skelly and Nwanweri will be promoted to 'Squad' rather than academy next season. Who else have we got that will go up?

Realistically we're looking at best at Zubmendi and Gayakores and maybe a youngster like Hato from Ajax. The other 2 signings we'd have to hope are young signings that hit the nail for little money like the old days of Toure and Anelka.

I'd be happy with Zubmendi, Gayakores and Hato plus 2 squad players and 2 squad loan signings.
