I want to see us offload some players too. We have a lot to shift if we're to sign the players linked.

Runarsson
Bellerin
Mari
Ballard
Niles

I was chatting to Leon Constantine at the weekend and he was telling me he is losing his enthusiasm for coaching because of the mindset of youth footballers, they don't want to put the effort in and they complain when they get the slightest touch, they are not tough.

True what you say. My boy plays under 8s and the amount of diving and rolling around that goes on is ridiculous. I teach my boy to never show you're hurt or tiered and play like you mean it. In truth, he never gets fouls and gives too many away because of it.

I do wonder if our players have been good injury wise because they are taking bigger hits in training, so their bodies are getting used to the knocks. Cliche once said the training under Wenger was lightweight compared to City. That could be why we had so many injuries

Same thing happened to a lot of the barca youngsters when they tried to rebuild doing the same thing.

Arsenal players appearances at 23 followed by total appearances for the club
Here is just a sample
O’Leary 308… 722
Adams 235…. 672
Armstrong 239…. 621
Rice 170…. 525
Storey 180…. 506
Simpson 142….. 478
Davis 201……445
Rix 231….. 449
Parlour 199….. 442
Merson 188….. 415
Vieira 172…. 400
Good enough
Old enough

Football then is NOTHING LIKE football now.

You could get away with eating shit food, getting drunk and being totally unprofessional, you cannot now. Footballers are finely tuned athletes

The game is faster now, the ball is in play for longer too.

And you got kicked a lot more and teams used far fewer players throughout the season and there was 1 sub. Parlour and Vieira played in the post diet era and add to those Walcott Ramsey and Henry who played a lot of games young and went on to play a lot of games for us and there are others

Ramsey and Walcott aren't the best examples. Both have missed a lot of football through injury and can't play a lot of minutes through a season. Theo's 33 and Ramsey is 31. Auba is 33 and so is Lewandowski. Benzema is 34. Ronaldo is 37? They'd be better examples to look at.

I know the perceived slow pace has frustrated most people here (even though most teams have been slow off the blocks), but it's looking like it could be a great window.

Saliba returns
Martinez
Raphina
Vieira
Jesus

Still crying out for a CF, a CM and whichever position Martinez isn't here for (FB cover or CDM), but on the whole, damn! It's shaping up nicely.

Think it was Highbury Hillbilly or EK that said all these replacements do is cover gaps for players that are leaving/being shipped out, we are still down in numbers.

If we miss a top quality center forward we are done for.

I will say the same if we do not add quality to the centre midfield. Partey's fitness is a constant worry and Xhaka, Eleney and Lokonga are not good enough long term cover.

Unless we are going with 1x holding and 2 CMs in front this season.
For example

..........................Ramsey
Tommy....White.......Gabriel........Tierney
..........................Xhaka
...............Partey...........Odegaard
Saka....................Jesus.................Martinelli

Vieira
Elneny
Patino

If both clubs get their reported targets ... who has the stronger starting 11 ?

Lloris

Dier --- Romero --- Bastoni

Spence --- Bentacur --- Bissouma --- Perisic

Kulasevski --- Kane --- Son

Ramsdale

Tomiyasu --- White --- Gabriel --- Martinez

Partey --- Xhaka --- Odegaard

Saka --- Jesus --- Raphinha

Their front 3 destroys ours as does their midfield and defence

But I'll go for our team

Vieira next to Odegaard, Partey at CDM.
