@FabrizioRomano
Official, confirmed. Arsenal signs Fábio Vieira from FC Porto on a permanent deal, Portuguese club statement announces. #AFC

“Deal complete for amount of €40m, and of these, €5m are dependent on achievement of sports objectives”.

Welcome to Arsenal!

That was very quick and efficient from us, I’d still like to see us add some competition for Xhaka though as Vieira will be more to push Odegaard/Saka/Martinelli, I don’t see him working in a trio with Odegaard due to balance/defensive issues.

Comp against Liverpool I think we have a real bargain on our hands, If he can play this way for us he’ll be a step up from Odeegard easily, we haven’t had a midfielder with elite dribbling skills since Cazorla, I’m officially excited now!

Don’t this Vieiras physicality will be in an issue anymore based on the comps I’ve seen this is the type of player like Cazorla, David Silva and Bernardo Silva etc where their dribbling skills make up for the lack of physicality

Looks like he's not shy in using his weaker foot. Watched a few clips of him now and does seem a little lightweight. May need some time to adapt and bulk up a bit.

Looks very lightweight, hopefully he has enough skill to overcome it

His agent is Jorge Mendes, who also helped negotiate the Pepe deal (Pepe has a different agent). Edu about to be taken for a ride again.

20 years of CL money and a mostly positive net spend made that possible.

We need 4th place or better. That's as simple as the math has to be.

I realize £34m isn't going to get us Alexis Sanchez as it isn't 2014. But is it the best use of the money when we need 2 goalscorers?

The more I read the more I like it.

Can play a pass through a needle.
Operates in pockets.
Opens up defences with his passing.

Odegaard went missing too much last season so it's good to have this guy to push him and maybe even take over from him.

Personally feel that Odegaard's game was a little hamstrung due to the lack of creativity in midfield. He can work anywhere really, but you're going to see his best game centrally, and if the CMs have no ideas but to knock it wide, his game will be effected. There was a lot on his shoulders too with such a lack of support from midfield. Even in possession he would be isolated due to us having no central game. We definitely need a more progressive CM.

Yeah this isn't an Odegaard replacement, this is someone who will often play alongside him.

All of these players we're signing can play multiple positions and that's exactly what we need so they can switch around and fill holes when injuries or fatigue happen. No need for subpar bench warmers.
