Our goal numbers have been pathetic for the past 2 years running. Auba missed a lot of chances this season, but we create far too few as it stands.

West Ham have scored more than us. Utd are missing 3 forwards and are ahead of us.

Auba is two goals away from breaking the Spanish record for goals scored by players arriving in January. :rofll:

Marvellous what a good manager can get out of a washed-up player  ;)

So why did Auba miss from 5 yards for us time and again? He hated Arteta so much at 350k / week?
Rather not have someone around who forgets his basic duty for the team who pays his king's wages.

I'm aware of that. My opinion has always been that Auba needed to be benched, not unceremoniously kicked out of the club. He has scored in every NLD v Spurs, we could have used him on Thurs.

That doesn't change the fact that he was missing chances early in the season. Both things are true.

The point is when you "had" a top striker and now you sell him on, we were supposed to replace him with someone fit for that role.

We needed to replace our 1st choice, not fall back on 2nd and 3rd choice to get us 4th, despite Nketiah having some good games fair play, but you can't tell me a top striker wouldn't of given us the belief and firepower to get over the line.

We used to win games mainly down to Henry or RVP so many times when we were under the cosh.

You want us to gamble millions on panic buy in January, or do it the right way in the summer for the long term. We don't want another.misfit kicking around for years. Let's do it right.

This is its own gamble I accept that, but it the better gamble imo. We are still 4th.

That had to be the lamest reason for not buying players that were needed! You are talking like buying the players would be a kneejerk reaction, as if everyone has not being saying for well over a season that we needed a striker.

Spurs brought in Kulukevski on loan and bought Bentancur in Januarybith have been key players for them. But we should stay at a defecit offensively because bringing players in January is a risk :BangHead:

Maybe Arteta and Edu had the backing of Ks in this , watching what's going on w/ most other clubs having knee jerk reactions.
Maybe 5th and couple more shrewd buys in summer and giving academy boys further opportunity to grow will bear mega fruit in future, just like ManU in the 90s.
It is really a small margin. Few tweaks here and there and you're suddenly challenging top dogs.
Maybe we shouldn't be so cynical and wait , watch and enjoy the development.

Maybe stop being an apologist! More excuses than a f***ing politician.

Apologist for what?
We’ve had a good season and shown clearly we are progressing and heading in the right direction.
Nothing to apologise for, only be enthusiastic about.

Are you upset with a fact being shared that makes your/Arteta's assessment of Auba look bad Jay?!

Nothing but facts but I guess when a fact makes you look bad you have to attack the person that shared it.

An apologist for not buying the player(s) that we needed in January. Just admit the club was wrong and move on ffs.

Jovic on loan as a back up plan for missing out on Vlahovic made so much sense too
Raya/Ramsdale
White/Tomiyasu--Saliba/Timber--Gabriel/Kiwior--???/Zinchenko
???/Jorginho
Odegaard/Smith Rowe----Rice/???
Saka/Jesus-------------------Martinelli/Trossard
???/Havertz
