It was a decent goal, but we were allowed to score it due to Southampton’s poor closing down of the press.

Home record

Played 8, won 6 drawn 1 lost 1 - one of the very best in the league. Only City are better (on goal difference). Most teams in the league and their fans will know that when they come to the Emirates they are underdogs.

It was not just a decent goal, it was a world class goal.

This is where I shut down Jay's argument. Jay, a bit of context, now strictly speaking you are technically correct but as usual the devil is in the detail with you. Lets look at who we have played at home and how we performed:

Chelsea - Lost
Norwich - Won
Spurs - Won
C Palace - Won
A Villa - Won
Watford - Won
Newcastle - Won
Southampton - Won.

The only decent team we beat at home was Spurs, the rest of them are home wins every single day of the week for a competent Arsenal team.

Irrelevant to the argument.

No fans of most clubs don’t expect to lose to Arsenal these days, many think they can beat us as we’re a midtable team that don’t create much.

^
An utterly baseless argument

The truth is that most teams will come to the Emirates understanding that they are the underdogs. Rightly so, as we one the best teams in the PL at home this season.

It’s not irrelevant to the argument, stats require context, we haven’t really beaten any decent teams other than Spurs at home, but even they were a shambles and didn’t turn up in what was their worst display in a NLD anyone can remember. The rest of the teams are basically relegation candidates that are in poor form, Vill we’re another team struggling who have now replaced their manager like Spurs have.

Palace are decent but should have won and we scraped a undeserved draw with a very late goal.

As for teams liking their chances against us, it’s not baseless, we’re not the force we once were, teams no longer fear us or think it’s an automatic loss, they can see we’re very beatable as has been shown clearly in the last couple years.

Even when we wipe spurs off the pitch it’s not good enough and only cos they were crap, couldn’t be that we made them crap at all.

Of course....same old boring shit wins don’t really count and losses are worth the death penalty.

What is relevant Ozim is that when teams come to the Emirates they are underdogs on most occasions. They come to the Emirates hoping to win, not expecting to win.

The rest of your post, Ozim, is just the same senseless, factually incorrect, drivel.

Jay, the idea that the Emirates is some sort of fortress is laughable. Teams haven't feared Arsenal at home since Wenger was boss. This season our points are skewed in favour of the home games because we have played so many weak teams at home, so home points versus away points reads 19 vs 7. Thats not putting fear into anyone because like I said, we have simply beaten teams we should be beating. Be interesting to see what the gap looks like at the end of the season.

Lets look at last season, home points vs away points 28 vs 33, we did better away from home last season.

Norwich - Won
Arsenal - Won

Burnley - Won
Crystal Palace - Lost
Everton - Won
West Ham - Won
Wolves - Won

So the bold are teams we have both played. They picked up 4 points, we picked up 7.

The italics are teams who should arguably pose a challange and they have played two including West Ham, similar to us.

So home form not too different and quality of teams not too different surely?

EDIT: Although maybe the style of win they have is more convincing. Arguably. Especially battering us

Would love to see more of this. We cut them up and this is what I mean about getting down the flanks and cutting the ball back.

Southampton didn’t close us down well enough, this just doesn’t happen against a better team that’s the trouble.

All very good slicing relegation candidates in poor form open occasionally but what we need is something that works against all teams or to have an alternative when it doesn’t work.

The better teams don’t give you time and catch you on the ball and score.

These kind of things are anomalies in the current setup not the norm unfortunately, most of the time we struggle to open sides up, which is why we can’t create enough chances for forwards, which in turn means there’s more pressure on the forwards when the chances do come which probably means they snatch at them or fail to put them away.

Yesterday’s game was expected for me, a Southampton fan of interviewed was expecting to lose, if their own fans think they’re going to lose against a side who have just lost to Everton and lost 3 out of the last 4, you know they’re not on a good place.

Fans hey?
Guess if you asked Chelsea fans they would have expected to win at home to Burnley after all
Arsenal had beaten them at there own ground and they had lost at Everton at the end of a run of 6 premier league games without a win

I think Laca looks really good as the focal point surrounded by eager talent making runs around him.

As I said in the match thread, if Laca was 6'2 he'd be a perfect CF for how we're playing.

Because Auba offers nothing if he doesn't score.
