I just hope the vaccine is still effective against it. There's a decent chance it isn't, and if that's the case, I don't see how things won't go tits up again.
Pfzier/BioNTech said they're testing the variant against their vaccine and will know in two weeks. Will be excellent news if the vaccine is still highly effective as that would mean Moderna should be the same, and the US will still be largely protected.
The good news is both Moderna and Pfizer can get boosters for variants out in less than 100 days.
We still need to work on vaccinating the entire world, though, but it's difficult when a lot of the world doesn't have the required infrastructure for mRNA vaccines.
