We would get 50m because everyone knows Arsenal are desperate,

How so?

We turned down fees that were too small this year and if we were desperate for money we'd not have spent 150m this window.
Also, there is no indication at all that we would want to sell Saka at any price as our strategy is to develop a young team.

If he's good enough, they'll pay a lot for him.

Have you lot got a losers mentality?

Why are you all talking about selling him? He’s shown no inclination he wants to leave and we have no reason to sell.

He’s ours until at least 2025, and that’s that.

150m if Grealish is worth 100m

I forgot all Arsenal players are worth more than players from other teams!

Saka is a good young talent but he’s worth nowhere near that, his productivity is nothing amazing at this stage.

Indeed and he's already world-class at 20yrs old.
Good times.

Saka signed a four year (why only four years?) deal this year - he's only on 30k a week so very obviously a big club can come in and offer ten times that salary, we should already be offering a new five year contract on much higher wages ....

As he's got three full years to go on this contract we can ask for 150m and just bounce off any lower offers, for once the board have got a top player nailed down ... small steps

Not desperate for money.
Desperate for a system that works.
The system currently has failures in every roll. And a failed culture of care.
For over 15 years we have either sold players we should have and could have kept, and hung onto players to the point of neglect.
Because of our systems we have become a joke in business terms.
Not an easy thing to change especially with the lack of football business knowledge at the club.

At some point Kroenke is going to want to recoup the hammering he’s taken on the money side. That’s when we will sell Saka. He will go for cheap because the entire world knows our predicament.

This is what I fear, that the club is going to fund transfers in a sustainable manner, no manager no matter how good or experienced gets all transfers correct,
We are going to find large gaps with in our squads as we had seen under the AW project youth.
Project youth on it's own will always fail. Especially as Aw did selling his best experience and assets
It didnt work for him I dont see Arteta and Edu remotely getting it right

Project youth is insanity. It didn’t work with a manager of Wenger’s ability and it’s not going to work with a dud like Arteta. You can’t be developing players for the future in a league that moves at the pace of the premier league. You look at how Chelsea have got the balance right. They invested big on a title winning squad with the worlds best players and then developed the off player here and there that they sold over the odds. That Russian lady who runs their business is a genius.

Got to agree, we’ve been that done that with project youth, truth is it doesn’t work.

Players won’t stay long enough if you’re not successful, what you need is to build a team that can compete whilst adding some young players and mixing them with experience.

Players just won’t stick around if you midtable, never qualifying or competing for the big prizes, not if they’re top class anyway, a successful club will buy them.

The other thing is young players learn from experienced players and become better players for it, if you get some winners in it soon filters down to the young players.

Wenger tried to get rid of all the winners and bring in kids to replace them, the result was they never were successful as none of them learnt what it took to be successful.

What project youth?

This isn't any project youth. Such a project usually revolves around poaching cheap talents from other academies/leagues, making smart purchases for a modest fee, promoting your own talents, etc. It's a combination of factors.

Splashing £150m on players—£220m+ overall—and branding it as project youth is PR 101.

Sadly, most Arsenal fans will fall for it.

Probably better to call it Project Very Smart.
Precisely what we needed to reverse the trend of buying older players (who are hit and miss) and don't have any resale value when it comes time for them to leave.

Project Youth is term that came from the fans and not the club. Also, ai wouldn't say it's good PR 101 for fans fk fall for because most saw the original as a failure, hence this talk of having to sell Saka.

This does look like Project Youth 2.0 because it based off building developing a young group of players. May not be the exact same way things rolled out under Wenger but it's the similar idea or at least one most fans will compare to what happened under Wenger.
