This is what I'm getting at, its exactly the same situation with Ozil.
If certain fans have a problem with a player, all of a sudden if that player doesn't have a WC Messi level game, he's sh*t and should be binned.
With Ozil if he didn't make 10 assists while also doing a Makelele impression running back to defend he was rubbish apparently.
But when your hating on a player your never going to have measured criticism, which is my whole point.
I think you are conflating 2 things.
The criticism of Auba is not because he had a bad game, or even 2, or even 5.
He has been poor all season - up to the start of the second half in the last game.
Having signed a huge contract, the expectations are rightly raised - especially given his PR storm upon signing.
It's simple really. He is paid a fortune, talked a good game, but on the pitch has failed to deliver this season.
Much more than a one-game issue.
He'll be judged on how many goals he gets. Not the rest of the team.
Laca's goalscoring this year is the best it has been for us, so the excuses about our playing style being the reason Auba's goals have dried up doesn't past muster.
He's got to now go on a run of scoring and if he does, good for him... and more importantly good for us.
I'll cheer every goal, despite maintaining my position that it was a big mistake giving him the contract he is now on.
Should have given him 1 year.
