he literally doesn't do much but run around a bit and goal hangs, we're lucky if he scores so he can actually contribute.

Honestly, that's lower than Wolves level, Nketiah would be good for a lower league team who just throws balls in the box.

He’s nothing like Giroud

Both goal hangers who can't do anything unless they're provided crosses on a plate.

Giroud's technique is world-class.
Also not a goal hanger or poacher... some of his goals have been utterly amazing. That scorpion kick goal was just insanely good and I remember that goal he scored where he literally stopped the ball dead on his foot from a lobbed pass and rifled it in.
His record stands up against any striker we currently have.
He's very underrated by Arsenal fans.

I like Nketiah but he is never going to have the ability of Giroud. Few do.
Whether he scores more goals is another question.

Think goal hanger - then watch this.

He was a goal hanger for 80% of his game.

Any tw*t can take one off highlights and make him look like Henry.

I'll raise your Scorpion kick with zero goals in a World Cup where France won the enitre competiton with no goals from him.

............ then I'll raise you another crap seasons at Chelsea, one of which he only scored like 2-4 times.

Yeah Giroud was rubbish, the odd highlight reel goal doesn’t change that, remember him in the Euros clean through with only the keeper to beat and he totally fluffed it.

Glad we got rid, would never anyone like him playing for us again.

His minutes per goal rate for us was similar to Aubameyang's for us.
Plus he was good on defensive set-pieces.
Hard to understand anyone calling 'rubbish'.
Sounds like an overly emotional position to take with little regard for logical assessment.

Chelsea is the end of his career - I think he was 31 when he joined hem?
Couldn't care less about his Chelsea days.

To be honest a CF who 'goal hangs' 80% of the time is about perfect.

He use to go lots of games without scoring and would usually score groups of goals against weaker teams, the stats don’t show that at all.

Anyone that watched him could see he wasn’t good enough, was glad to get rid.

Stats without some context (i.e without watching someone) are misleading.

To me it sounds like rose tinted glasses from your side tbh, players often seem to get better in some people’s eyes after they’ve left.

Giroud 16080 mins
105 goals
A goal every 153 mins

Aubameyang 10320 mins
76 goals
A goal every 136 mins
Henry scored a goal every 134 mins for us
2in 3 games is good for a striker

Yes, exactly 153 minutes vs 136. Similar.
Over a season, less than 3 goals.
The way things are going, in a couple of years, I suspect Giroud's goal rate for us will actually be better than Auba's.

Fail to see how Giroud could be called rubbish for us - and some his goals were truly spectacular.

Yes but these are purely stats without any context as I explained, on the field the guy was rubbish, unlike Henry.

We made the guy look better than he was if anything.

On the field, he offered more than most strikers - goals plus significant defensive contribution.
The guy is 18th on the ALL TIME scoring list for our club.
To call him rubbish just shows you think in black and white and are not objective.
He had his limitations - like most players.
Did he have some bad periods - sure. Was he even rubbish over spells? Yeah, probably.
Was he rubbish overall? nah. Over the course of his Arsenal career he was good (not great, but good)

I have no skin in the game with Giroud
He doesn’t play for us anymore therefore can’t be of help
Aubameyang does
A record close to the club’s highest ever goal scorer
Should be something to praise

I wouldn't call Giroud a goal hanger, but I do get what DG is saying. Giroud scored a few goals outside the box, he had a fierce left footed shot. When I think of goal hangers I think more Nketiah, he has not fiersome strike that I have seen because he rarely shoots from range and the few times he does he miskews them into the crowd.

A goal hanger suggests scoring lots of tap-ins, which Nketiah scores, Giroud scored a few but most of his goals to my memory were good headers and decent strikes within the box, with a few tap-ins.

With regard to technique, as Jay says, Giroud's is miles better than Nketiah's.

Not really comparable, though.
Henry joined at 21.
i.e. he played from a young age into his peak.
Auba joined when he was 28 and at his peak.

Same reason 'first 50' is a meaningless stat. Depends entirely on what stage the player is when they join.
Henry went through a 3-year stretch at his peak where he scored almost a goal every 90 minutes. It's a level over a sustained period that Auba is not close to. No shame in that... he's not close to the player Henry was. But few are. Very few.

What we can say is that Auba had a really good first 2.5 years where he managed to get close to the career-long average Henry's time with us.
I suspect when Auba finishes his career record for us will be more like Girouds. Still pretty good.

As for Nketiah - his first 1000 minutes in the PL is a goal every 250 minutes. Needs to improve. Not at all bad for his current stage of his career, but I'd be happy if he gets towards that goal every 150 minutes level. That's a good rate.

You could argue that the peak for a striker is 25 to 27 hence 3 years
Henry’s last 3 years at arsenal where he scored 75 goals in 9677 mins
A goal every 129 mins

Aubameyang at the same age
104 goals in 11702 mins
A goal every 113 mins

The fact that aubameyang did what he did past his peak is good
You have acknowledged that
I am four square behind you in judging what a player could/ will do in the future
To that end I still understand why arsenal offered him a new contract
His form is worrying
You may have shown a good degree of foresight in your reasoning to sell
It was a point I didn’t share
All I ask is you not to jump in on every opportunity to slight
I understand it’s a high pressure game and players should play under pressure for there place and the success of the team but it does get a bit galling when you bang on about the same point
Your feelings are noted among those who do not see visiting a forum as a point scoring exercise
You have started on Balogun now
People get it
I also believe the club should draw a line on how they handle contracts etc
You will lose some
You will dodge some bullets
But please don’t let it cloud how you follow
The arsenal
I couldn’t give a f**k about individuals playing well at the arsenal
I want us to do well as a collective
