The tandem is probably the closest we’ve seen to Dein & Wenger in terms of actual roles I reckon

Liverpool has similar problems like Arsenal, and other professionally run clubs. They need to balance their books. They don't have a sugar daddy.

Josh Kroenke at the top

Vinai overseeing both the football & financial side

Edu the DoF who is responsible for squad assembly, scouting set up etc alongside Huss Fahmy who deals with contractual agreements

Arteta, who now has a direct line to Josh Kroenke and also works with Edu for squad assembly & transfer target identification (more of a manager than the previous title of head coach)

Is what I understand?

Looks that way.

Seems to me they figured its cheaper and less possibility of corruption to just give Arteta more Manager powers rather than have only a coach and needing a Director of football as a single role.

So Arteta and Edu come up with the targets and Vinai basically just signs it off budget wise.

Why not, makes more sense to me, Arteta gets more say so he can fashion the team to how he wants, I take it Edu has to concur the targets though?

I would assume so

Edu’s job is to make a coherent and balanced squad that can be altered slightly dependent on who’s in the dugout

If Mikel shits the bed it’s super important that if he eventually leaves that the next person who comes in doesn’t have the same terrible hand that Arteta was dealt

Still unsure what Raul would have done. Francis Cagigao was our international scout and found players like Saliba and Martinelli. In terms of negotioans, Huss Fahmy is supposed to be the man. Also, in terms of the latest sightings we've been linked to this summer, where does Edu come into the picture?

Good video.

Big Tim, Stan's right hand man, is undertaking a full review of the club and heads are rolling.

Controversial opinion:

Ornstein is no longer tier 1 when it comes to Arernal. His main intel at Arsenal was Gazidis. Since he's left, Ornstein has become to Arsenal what Jeremy Wilson was when Wenger was here.

You could be right - although I put his reduced lack of Arsenal transfer insight / activity down to him joining the Athletic. Not sure

Ornstein is confirmation only level but obvs now he’s at the Athletic his remit is every big team in the prem, not solely a source for Arsenal anymore
