1917

Very good.

Should've won the Oscar instead of whatever film won it.

Totally forgot about that movie, time for a revist and download.

I watched it 10 years ago in the Cinema, can barely remember what it was about.

I am watching a re-run of Hill Stree Blues and enjoying it, the music is haunting.

Zombieland 2. As good as the first. Time to make a third. Can never fail with zombies.

Frozen 2. Not as good as the first.

Finally got around to watching the Matrix trilogy. The FX were dated, but the lore was cool. I learned there's a fourth installment coming out in 2022, so I'm looking forward to that.

Time Trap. Intriguing concept, mediocre execution (way too short to explore such an interesting idea).

Do you guys still buy physical media?

Criterion are having a sale so I recently picked up The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Silence of the Lambs on blu ray.

I also got a copy of Do The Right Thing signed by Spike.

Like I said in the other thread, I only buy Blu-Ray when and if a great film comes out and its special effects heavy so mainly Marvel films, Star wars etc those types.

Otherwise I just download it on my PC, you don't get the same quality as 1080p Blu-Ray but its not too far off, def rivals 720p and if its something like Silence of the Lambs, there's no reason at all to have that in 1080p.

Thing is though I have a good PC with more than 2 TB's storage in both my lounge and my bedroom, some people don't have a PC or a good set up so need to buy Blu-Rays and if so, go for it.

Very close to DG at this point.

Basically I ask, will I rewatch this a lot? If yes, I buy it. So I do buy more than just Marvel, lots of documentaries, but primarily Marvel and Science Fiction/Fantasy.

Normally I'd agree but it's one of my favorite movies and came with a bunch of special features and a book.

It's a 4k restoration so it looks amazing too.

Right now I only have about 12 blu rays, I'm like you, I only buy my all time favorites.

I finally got round to watching joker last night
Wow
Blown away
Phoenix is mesmerising in the titular role
To make you have empathy for this tortured character was an amazing thing pulled off by all involved.
Placing mental health at its heart was a gamble that could have backfired in a comic book setting.
But this film has so much heart and human interest in its telling that you can forget its a fictional conceit.
It blurs the lines between reality and wishful thinking so well that you find yourself retracing your steps to comprehend what you had just watched.
All this and a fantastic turn from robert de niro
You couldnt help be reminded of Scorsese's king of comedy.
It would have been so easy to have him as some right wing narcissist but the film doesn't do black and white stereotypes
Instead it leaves the moralty in the hands of the viewer
An inteligent blockbuster
I hope sets a trend
