In both cases, against weak opposition, they've had very far from conclusive numbers
In America the Pubbers won on a minority vote
In the UK the Cons got 80 more seats.... off the back of 300,000 extra votes, thanks to FPTP
For all the talk of the Left needing to change, the Right need to check over their shoulder and stop kidding themselves they have the public mood with them.
To add, gerrymandering is also a huge problem in America.

But yeah, I think what we're seeing with the right lashing out are its death throes. The younger generations (Millennials and Gen Z) are overwhelmingly and undeniably left of center because of all the right wing lies we've seen and had to put up with growing up. And in 20 years, we're going to see a massive shift left.
For now though, I'm just counting down the days until Texas finally turns blue. Maybe that'll finally be the day Republicans wake up and shift left from their current positions.
