Bukayo is still very young; if he does not feature for the first team he, unlike Pépé, doesn't rot away on the bench as he'd play with the u21s.
What? Saka got a run of games after playing well against Frankfurt. Ozil is the one taking Pepe’s place now and if he continues to underperform then it’s either Martinelli or Pepe who come in.
Not really sure what everyone’s crying about, Pepe will come good but he’s not deserving of starts right now.
Apparently he's not deserving enough to come off the bench either. Clearly Saka is the better choice there.
Yeah said in the match thread I disagreed with that but maybe that Freddie is more familiar with Saka and probs wanted to give him a chance.
Yeah, I can see that being his reasoning when he had less than 48 hours as interim. Hopefully he gets acclimated to Pepe quickly though lol
Don’t know if you’re being serious or sarcastic but he must’ve worked with Saka in u23’s right so knows a bit more about what he can expect. I’m sure he’ll start using Pepe which is again why I’m not bothered after just 1 game, particularly when the latter has been disappointing even in his lazy sub apps (he should be busting a gut to prove himself).
I mean it was only 1 week ago v Saints, he comes on and fucks up a golden chance. OK he hit the bar later but he didn’t do too much and as much as I want him to do well he just hasn’t looked confident so far. I wanted to play him into confidence but it didn’t seem to work when he kept playing, so he needs to fight for his spot from the bench.
@VCC, like I already said, most players don’t have competition for their spots. All the CM’s have rotated but none are good enough so Xhaka and Guendouzi end up playing by default. Ozil is now back in at RW which many of us wanted, not playing well so soon it will be Martinelli getting starts. Pepe can fight his way in when we rotate through December.
