I'd like Eddie Howe, but if not then Erik Ten Hag.

Eddie Howe - No thank you. Bournemouth can't defend and they're football isn't that great either.

Ten Haag - Interesting but no guarantee he'll be a success in the Prem.

Ten Haag looks to be an exciting prospect. Would love to bring him in.

Eddie Howe - It's a massive risk. Falls along the same lines as Nuno. Hasn't reached his full potential and maybe a big club would help either find their level but it's a risk.

Ten Haag is the man to replace Valverde next season anyway. He's got his sights set on bigger clubs than our crisis.

My worry with Howe (which I don't have with Nuno) is to manage top players you need to command respect otherwise they won't play for you and will give you problems in the dressing room.

That is a major factor in bringing a manager to a club who buys better players on paper than lets say Wolves.
You can't have players who used to be at Real Madrid etc coming to play under Eddie Howe and expect them to behave, your just asking for trouble.

A lot of that is down to character not just achievements, Nuno and Poch can handle egos imo, Eddie, not so much.

I hear that as well. You just don't know how he'll react to being at a big club. Arteta and Howe are probably near the bottom of the list for ideal candidates because of the amount of risk. Howe has a decent style of football but it has to more than just that and considering the mess we're in now, do we want to take that risk? Nuno is still a risk but has more experience and seems to have that character that the players may respond to.

Poch....I just don't see him doing over the Spurs fans like that.

For me...the two Italians are the top candidates. Allegri is slightly younger but he doesn't have Prem experience. Ancelotti has the experience but is getting on a little. My only worry with him is whether he still has the drive and isn't dated with his methods. Van Gaal was well passed it when he took on Utd so I fear the same could happen with Ancelotti. But saying that, Van Gaal still got Man Utd back in the CL and I still believe Ancelotti has it in him to get us top 4 football. He has the experience against all the top clubs and managers.

Pros and cons for all the candidates.

the guy was heralded as a messiah a few months ago when he 'saved our club' with the summer window. now he's the worst operator in the game apparently.

it's as simple as this: he wanted to give unai as much time as possible to turn it around. it was the first manager under his tenure and he didn't want to act hasty. he's done that and it's clearly not working. he'll now give unai the boot.
