Anything decent out next month or so?

With Marvel on hiatus for a while, it's time for others to step up.

Joker out in October but anything before that?

Have you read The Shining?

Yep.

Coincidentally just re-read it a couple months back.

Doctor Sleep, for me, is King's reaction to Kubrick morphing King's content into Kubrick's own version.

King and Kubrick had major differences during the filming/scripting of The Shining. He (King) disagreed with various facets of the movie: Jack's innate evilness, the subtext of child abuse in the movie, Wendy's homely nature, and the mood of the movie. King had written Wendy as a blonde bombshell who married beneath her. But in the film, we see the opposite. Wendy is the traditional homely housewife to a much intelligent and charming Jack.

King even oversaw his own adaptation of The Shining as a of a mini-series in 1997. Suffice to say, it's not a patch on Kubrick's version. That said, the novel is one of the greatest horror novels of all time. Absolutely gold.

The best and most honest movie adaptation of a Stephen King novel is Misery. It's a classic. Chjeck it out if you haven't already.

It chapter 2

Dear GOD

Is easily the worst movie I've seen this year. So long, tonal shifts constantly. The clown is barely on screen and when he is it's cgi. He never gets his moment

2/10. and that’s being generous

all shit aside, IT (1990) was superior and my favorite by far.... people think the remake chapter one was just better cause the kids were hilarious and swore so much

I haven’t seen It Chapter Two yet, but will as soon as I possibly can, but I will admit that I liked It (TV Mini-Series 1990) WAY better than It (2017).

Btw I am actually curious to hear what you think of Doctor Sleep.

I liked part 1 of the remake and I'll probably like part 2 as well but the original was awesome. Pennywise in that is far more scarier than what he was in the remake. I too have heard part 2 is shit but I'll still watch it and make my own mind up. Never go to watch a film based on reviews. I make my own mind up on films.

Never heard of doctor sleep until your post. I guess if you're a Stephen King fan then you'll love it. I loved the shining. Plus Ewan McGregor is in it and haven't ever seen him in a bad film.

Show the spoiler
"Doctor Sleep" (the book, anyway) is about as ballsy and off-the-wall a sequel to "The Shining" as you could ask for. It provides continuity of character while also sending the story in a completely different direction. Curious to see how the movie plays.

Bad enough that you want it to rewind right back to the beginning, then get up from your seat and walk backwards out of the theatre, stopping only at the kiosk to see your money come back out of the till and into your pocket.

Got detective pikachu and hellboy

Haven't seen either.

Not a Pokemon fan but Ryan Reynolds is the GOAT

Original hellboy films were great. Heard this is shit but I'll watch and make my own mind up

They’ve been doing really well with their comic books nods in the past few movies. I enjoy it a lot.

Has anyone seen the made for TV version of It?

I remember well sitting in front of the TV when it came on and watching the paper boat floating into the drain and what happened next. Was hooked and watched the whole thing.

Years later I read the book which explains much more and had me turning every page, but was ultimately very disappointed by the ending. When you are as good a writer as King to be able to create so much tension, but his endings can never live up to the buildup.

Have work super early tomorrow and can't stay up to watch the whole thing.

Should I wait until the weekend and watch it all at once?
