To be perfectly honest, I'm not enthused by this signing - not because of the player but because of the deal itself.

The rumour is that the deal has no option to buy, which rubs me the wrong way. We're essentially assuming Real's responsibilities to develop Ceballos for a year, and we won't be able to enjoy the fruits of our labour in the long term. Oh well, we're a small big club now so I guess that comes with the territory.

Also, there's a huge risk involved in this deal. Premier League clubs have loaned players from Real and Barca over the last few years, and the most prominent players (Deulofeu, Jese, Denis Suarez) haven't been all that successful. If Ceballos doesn't hit the ground running, we're in enormous trouble.

Nevertheless, it's a signing we've needed. One down, three to go.

Superb business given the state of our finances. Really excited to see him play for us.

I'm not sure why we didn't go in for Franck Kessie, hes going cheap, but this guy will do for 1 year, i would prefer a midfielder that was better defensively though, a Vieira type rather than a Ramsey type of b2b.

We already have Xhaka, Guedouzi and Torreira as defensive-minded midfielders (plus Elneny if we still want to count him). We were in far more need of a ball-carrying midfielder with some real flair after Ramsey's departure.

I just assumed that players like kessie who can attack and defend equally well would be more beneficial to the team, ah well we will see how this guy turns out.

Happy with the loan but I hope he gives it 100% the whole season and not just the first half.

Will be interesting though when ti comes to the pressure on the players, he won't give a fk compared to our actual team.......... but then again we have one of those in Ozil.

I think the chances of signing on a permanent is pretty decent too
