Serious howler by Sauerbrunn. Could see it coming from miles away too, ffs.

Keeps the match interesting for the neutral viewer, though.

Peach of a pass by Lavelle as I type this.

If Spain wasn't so dirty, I'd feel slightly bad about us advancing on two soft pens.

And jfc, Rapinoe can't start against France. She offered nothing today in open play.

ditto on espana sucia... they also didnt really create shyte..

and press is both way better and cuter than rapinoe...dribbles her adversary like 6-8 times a game so far as i have seen.

Didn't VAR confirm them though?

Also, was the game televised in the states? I couldn't find it anywhere.

I just read about it, sounds like on the 2nd one she dived a bit and went down a bit easy. Would suck to lose like that, but such is football.

I don't know if Press is better, but she's definitely more consistent. Rapinoe's talent level would suggest she's one of the best players in the world, if not the best, but her problem has always been that she's never been able to put it together for consecutive games. She'll have 4-5 games like today, then she'll have a game where she's absolutely unplayable. Though I wish we had a prime Abby and a prime Hope Solo; this team is missing players like that, even though this team may be more talented.

Agree about looks. Press is hella adorable.

Yup, but with a different ref, they may have been reversed. Unlike other fouls Spain committed throughout the game, the pens weren't egregious, but they were textbook penalties because of contact. However, if all contact in the box was called, we'd have games ending 15-14. It's one of those things I can get over as an American, but I'd be pissed if the shoe was on the other foot and the decisions went against us.

And it was on FS1. Don't know why it wasn't on local Fox affiliates. Seems dumb to not put an American team in the World Cup on broadcast TV.
