I thought this game would be a surefire loss, so Im glad we got 3 instead. Team performance may not have been great, but we have a fully rested Laca ready to start against Napoli, and fresh legs in AMN and Ramsey as well.

Emery himself said we struggled defensively. Slam dunk. He also said we didn't control the match well when we had a player more.

Glad he said it.

Who'd have guessed that putting Xhaka back in would make us look shit.

i think bellyaching is reasonable since we were up a gaol and a man for 85 mins and did jackshit, they looking more threatening around our box than we did about theirs

Enjoy the win :arse fan:

Struggling to be honest, that was pathetic, unprofessional and downright disgusting. I can't take pleasure from that garbage. Yeah yeah yeah, we won, but they should've won on chances, its embarrassing.

What .......... are you ...........talking about?

Disciplined for winning away from home? seeing out a lead for 85mins? after we just beat Napoli as well?

Most on this forum were acting like Watford was Man City, we win and people moan?

Get out!

Yes it wasn't the most octane attacking and the final balls were sloppy but defence did well as did Midfield, offence was sh*t but its usually the other way round.

Watford were the better team and should have won.
We got lucky - that's great and all, but it does not instil confidence.
Our midfield and attack was appalling tonight and defensively we did ok, but were still caught out far too often with 2 v 1 out wide. Should not happen against 10 men.

I don't think anyone was suggesting Watford are like Man C. They were just seen, rightly, as more likely to win given the quality of the two teams taking home and away form into account. Same as the Wolves and Leicester games - we'lll need luck on our side to get points in those games too.

yeah, I think we did ok defensively in terms of the last ditch blocks and tackles, but the defensive cover given by the midfield was gone when Torriera went off (stupid substitution) and out wide in the FB positions we were hopeless.

Everyone in this thread has said we didn't play great so you've won no prize here.

What we said is we ground out a result away from home against a team everyone was crapping their pants about, job done, move on to bigger things.

How about this then, its a better result than Everton!

Yep , better result, same piss poor performance.
I don't care if we win our next 3 away with delfections off the strikers ass, whilst the other team misses 5 penalties - as long as we win. I have just accepted we are shit away from home, which is why we're underdogs going into away games, regardless of who we are playing.

Jayram I understand your frustration my friend. Watford away is a tough one. Yeah, they had 10 we had 11 but it's just one of those nights where it doesn't have to be pretty, it just gotta be 3 points for Arsenal.

Last Thursday we had a massive game against Napoli, this Thursday we have round 2. You can't just dismiss that fact as if it isn't relevant. It's very relevant and that's why it's so good we grinded out the win.

Aubemeyang was wasteful but in that moment he put in the extra shift, closed down the ball and got rewarded. Someone was talking about his pace, go look at that goal. The way he accelerates as soon as he sees the goalkeeper lose control of the ball.. Beautiful stuff.

Rest of the game was shit but a big W it is. It ain't over lads! COYG
Wembley:
Community Shield @6-8-'23 = 1*-1 Manchester City

Emirates Stadium:
First game @10-9-'11 = 1 - 0 Swansea
Most memorable game @24-2-'22 = 2 - 1 Wolves
Last game @09-03-'24 = 2 - 1 Brentford
Next game @03-04-'24 = VS Luton [ Block 121 - Seat 847 ]

Last season that was a loss. That win has taken us to 4th with 5 games to go and a 2-0 lead going into the Europa quarter final.

We've had to rotate because we have a massive crunch game in 3 days in Italy and then back for the weekend.

Maybe some would prefer that we have one game a week until the end so we can play our best 11 every week? Or we just play our best 11 anyway and act all surprised when we are dying at 70 minutes and getting rinsed?

Our first away cleansheet this season. We needed to play with 1 man more for 80 mins and even then were second best lool. That was one of our most pathetic performance this season without doubt. Now I dont even think they will beat palace home. We are in teerible form playing wise

It was deserved.

Side arm straight to Torriera's face. Didn't look as bad in some of the replays but they showed an angle that the linesman saw and it looked much worse, fortunately he was the one who called the ref over and he told him it was a straight red.
