Wenger and Ivan humiliated
The proof of the pudding will be when we see what happens with Ramsey

Except Ramsey entered the last year of his contract when Ivan was still in charge.

Can't hold Vinai/Raul responsible for something that occurred before they were appointed to their respective positions.

Ramsey isn't a key player though.

He literally won POTS for us last year so, agendas aside, he definitely fits the criteria of key player.

He just happens to be the key player who doesn't fit in the new manager's system.

What's wrong with that? Do you prefer us to let players enter the final year of their contract and leave on a free?

The saga.

We're in a tricky situation. Auba, Ozil, Mkhi, and Sokratis are all above 30 and their contracts expire at the same time.

The problem is we're not in a commanding position. If we get Monchi, I'd expect Auba and Ozil to be sold. That's what he does best. As for Mkhi, will he take a paycut?

It's going to be tricky this summer. Even if we sell Auba, Ozil, and Mkhi—as Sanllehi promised he'd do if they didn't agree to sign an extension—we don't have the money or the firepower to replace those players.

Imagine selling Auba, Ozil, mkhitaryan, and losing Ramsey while bringing in Ever Banega. God help us.

Sadly, this hypothetical is pretty believable tbf.

Layout the motive nice and early, make the moves in the summer early too.

Sell all the top earners, get the wage bill down and buy up young talent.

Get them to perform and sell on for huge profit a la Monaco.

Keep charging the same ticket prices because the punters will keep coming no matter what.

Act like your being financially responsible through the whole thing when it's mostly about maximising returns by cutting fixed costs.

If they care about Arsenal, they should extend their contracts without expecting a rise in pay otherwise as Zedie pointed out: sell and bring in young talents. Four of them are at an age where their contributions will not be as great as they were during their peak years and Mustafi is Mustafi so they are not irreplaceable. If we're selling them, we just need to ensure that we can get a respectable amount which we should be able to since they're not in the final years of their contract and still have a few years left in their legs.

Honestly, it's a bit of a relief hearing Raul and company say what they said about the players' contracts. No idea what the old regime were doing in this regard

Sell Ozil and Mustafi and extend contracts of Mkhi and Auba.

If we reach CL invest 100 mil + whatever Ozil and Mustafi gets us.

We simply can't carry on like that.

With our financial model and an owner who is refusing to put in any outside money especially without a guaranteed top 4 CL money, we cannot keep letting players walk away for free.

It give us nothing, we lose a player, we lose funds for a replacement, if they won't sign then they obviously aren't committed so sell them and buy a talented player who is.

We literally don't have any other choice.

We'll re-sign most of them, Ozil will probably be offered a pay cut because they won't re-sign him on those wages, Mustafi I don't give a sh*t about, probably better he's sold as I'd rather two more Sokratis for what we paid.

My biggest concern is Auba and if he'll want to re-sign ............ but its commitment time, I'll be happy if he does, if he doesn't then what can we do?

He's on more wages than he was at Dortmund and he's got a great partnership with Laca so hopefully that will convince him.

In an ideal world you would make players fulfill their contracts and focus simply on match day matters and the use of that player to win trophies

However the financial losses involved in doing that are now too great to justify it

You also have to consider whether a player with one eye on his big summer Bosman transfer will give you 100% for that final season or half season.

Sell Mustafi and Mkhi. Extend Aubas contract with a small pay rise. These are easy.

Özils situation is more complicated. Extending his contract with his current salary wont be an option for the club. I don't think Özil will want to have a pay cut. I could see him being tried to be pushed out of the club again in the summer

Sanllehi has apparently lined up Edu for the role of Technical Director.

He is currently in a role for the Brazilian FA, and if true he will leave to join us in the summer.
