he was miles ahead of everyone else, got f***ked around positionally nonstop and was always the bridesmaid to other united players

Scholes, Gerrard and Lampard?

Ferdinand, Terry, A. Cole and Campbell?

Shearer?

There have been more outstanding English players at various positions than Rooney.

I don't think them players had Rooney's natural all round talent though, I think that's what Sims meant that maybe the most effective.

Well C. Ronaldo didn't have Ronaldinho's natural talent but who's the better player?

I've never liked the "talent" narrative/debate.

You could say Wilshere was more naturally talented than Roy Keane.

It's a difficult one, I think Rooney had the potential to be the best player in a world cup at 06-10 and do a mbappe sort of thing, same with maybe a young Owen especially if he hadn't had injuries.

Only 2 in my lifetime that I would say that about.

Rooney was always the golden boy and considered our main man by far even with Gerrard and lampard in their prime which is testemant to how good he was.

He had an injury in 2010 and his pace wasn't quite the same after, I think fergie ran him into the ground a bit, probably a bit of bad discipline with lifestyle and just playing from so young caused his downfall to.

I know the US is roughly the same size as Europe, but this map of MLS teams' locations transposed onto Europe/Western Asia really puts it into perspective:

Makes it all the more impressive how there are so many huge clubs in relatively small European countries. I can't even imagine California (3), Texas (2), Florida (1, soon to be 2), and New York (1) having more than 3-4 teams each.

St. Louis is on the verge of getting a team finally, we should have been one of the first, especially before LA and NY got 2. The Midwest always gets shit on here.

It's hard for me to picture St. Louis as anything but a baseball town, but I also would've said the same thing about Atlanta and football 5 years ago.

We're pretty loyal sports fans all around. Hockey is big here too, and I believe the MLS will do well here.
