347 goals in 612 games at club level
39 goals in 89 games at International level
He must be bloody good at
'padding his stats' he's been doing it for 15 years .... he only scores against the small teams ... oh wait a minute
v Spurs 10 games - 10 goals
v Utd 8 games - 7 goals
v Chelsea 9 games - 6 goals
v Dippers 8 games 4 goals
v Arsenal 8 games 4 goals
So against the top 5 he's played 43 games and scored 31 goals .... wish our players could pad their stats like that ....
You're moving the goalposts. Cripps never said anything about Aguero only scoring against small clubs, only that he scores in bunches and then goes MIA more often than not.
But that's just not true ... look at his stats above against the top five and nearly all those goals came in singles ... he's scored in more individual matches against top five opponents than anyone now playing ... how is that scoring in bunches?
Sure he has 11 hat-tricks but that's just 33 goals out of over 300 ... all the great strikers get hat-tricks Shearer 11, Henry 8, Kane 8, Rooney 8, Owen 8 were they all MIA the rest of the time as well? To argue that a player who scores a lot of goals in one game is somehow bad? how does that make any kind of sense?
Just to show how wide of the mark that statement is anyway ... look at this season to date
Aguero has made 21 EPL appearances and scored in 14 of them 67%
Kane also 21 EPL appearances and scored in 13 of them 62%
Salah 25 EPL appearances and scored in 14 of them 56%
Auba 23 EPL appearances and scored in 12 of them 52%
If Aguero is MIA padding his numbers by scoring in bunches, then the rest of them must all be feckin' deserters ... or just maybe Cripps got his numbers all wrong?
