manager and players both have a certain level of quality that is based on performnace over time... an average if you will.
the 22 streak was playing/managing at or above average and now we are in patch where players and manager both are below.

i cannot tell if Unai can be an upper echelon coach. he has not proven so far that he can be.
he's also playing with a largely inherited roster.
but i CAN tell you that this group of players is far, far, far- yes, very far, from upper echelon.

I have no idea whats up with ozil. his back? his inconsistent performaces? such a weird and polarizing player.

i think he's tryna NOT THROW his players under the bus for failing to convert the few chances.

We didn't make anywhere near enough chances agree we missed some sitters but none the less we didn't deserve to win

i agree.

like i said, i think he's tryna spin it a little to try to NOT GRILL the squad too hard about a crap performance...

Same old story.
It's really simple - we need better players.
Looking through the two teams today it was about 50/50 in terms of which players would make it into a team comprised of both squads. That's bad when your opponent is West Ham.

We really badly need a winger who will beat players and a top striker.
We're going nowhere with what we have up front - and we really miss Ozil's creativity.

Seems to me that Kroenke is not going to let the new manager even attempt to save the club from what Wenger did to it.

Only 3 or 4 players should be kept.
I really don't think people have yet grasped just how badly the club was ruined over the last decade. It took a lot of fans 10 years to realise Wenger was a useless manager. it might take them another 10 to realise how bad we are.
It's going to be a slow process, BUT at least it feels like it is Arsenal again.
That is more important than winning.

so its on the manager? you dont wtf you are on about, man.

so, let's see... look at messi, look at cr7. does it matter at all wtf the manager is? no.

so when messi has a cold streak its cos the manager is failing to get teh best out of him?

I know more about what I am talking about than you do.

Simple facts, play to the strengths of the players you have and you will get the best out of them. Its no coincidence that we play better when the manager changes things in the second half. Thats not down to the players not trying or because they are shit, its because the tactics in the second half are better suited to the personnel.

The same players battered Spurs amd shiuld have beaten the remaining top 6 clubs apart from Man City. Shit players wouldn't be able to do that!

No its not!!

The fitst thing Emery should have done is improved us defensively, we look worse defensively than under Wenger. Our football is mostly poor and our attack inefficiency is meh. The players are capable of better as they have proved during parts of the season.

It's not possible to improve defensively with the players he inherited.
He needed to sell them all and get a new defence, but we have a bunch of clowns for players with contracts they are quite happy to sit on.
It pains me to listen to people convince themselves that Kos, Bellerin Mustafi, AMN, Jenkinson, Holding et al are actually anything other than complete clowns when it comes to defending. It's going to take ages to get rid of that lot and build an actual defence.

I did hear that Jenkinson was given a new contract - that's a clear Emery mistake, but other than that he's going to need about 5 seasons to wash out the crap from the squad.

We're just going to have to be patient and accept what we are now, just one of 7-8 teams who fight for 6th until the effects of Wenger are gone. That is going to be many years away.

There are actually quite a few promising players coming through who have not been contaminated by Wenger... I am loking forward to seeing their development.

Should have singed him seeing as we can't sign anyone, to much flair for us though

We can't keep blaming Wenger for Emery's poor selection and tactics.

At least half of the team today were not signed by AW.

It was an embarrassing game to watch for Arsenal fans.

Too much sideways play and needless backpassing to the keeper.

Not enough attacking flair in the midfield is the real problem apart from a shaky defence.

I don;t think i've seen such a woeful performance in a league game in over 60 years of watching Arsenal.

No manger could fix the mess we were left in.
That said, there a few issues with selection.
Don't understand why Ozil, and Torreira were not starting today.
I am still very much in the period where I am giving Emery my support - He is awful but I do like him :)
I think it is because I am so relieved not to have to look at the previous lanky idiot on the sidelines.

He's a massive c*** but as a freebie it made sense. Would even still do it in the summer if his deal runs out.#

Hated his face every time on the tv today but can swallow that if he improves us.

It certainly DOES NOT "feel like Arsenal again".

This is a million miles from the club I started to love.
