I think it's pretty clear that the entire house of commons, have all been working to make this whole process as messy as possible. That is clear.

I can't think of a single MP who has put the national interest over their own personal/party interests.

You wouldn’t know! Over 600 MP’s and you expect to know their personal thoughts? I think a lot have put their idea of the national interest over their party interests, otherwise there wouldn’t be all the splits and arguments going on.

At the beginning enough MP's were able to be rail roaded into doing the right thing as May had the mandate of the referendum hence why she got article 50 through the Lords and Parliament.

Since then she's thrown her mandate on the floor by p*ssing off parliament so much all those MP's that were holding back have now come flooding forward with their personal agenda's again.

May gave them that excuse over and over.

Now its chaos.

She should of either committed to Soft Brexit i.e Norway or Full Leave, she did neither, now look.

People like Farage and Rees-Mogg get bucket loads of abuse on a regular basis from left wing radicals, and we don't get a peep out of Parliament. Farage gets spat on and abused, and Rees-Mogg's children even get harrassed - and his home windows get smashed. Not a peep out of Parliament.

Remainer Anna Soubry gets abuse shouted at her and suddenly 50 MPs are writing to the Met Police Commissioner demanding action.

Stop chatting shit. When Mogg was attacked it was all over the press and in parliament

Soubry was surrounded by union Jack wearing thugs. She wasn't just "shouted at"

You are a perfect example of everything that's wrong with politics today. You're incapable of having a reasonable discussion without using insults. It reflects your debating abilities.

Anyway, when you use them on me I'll tell you to f**k off.

Not that bad.

That's just Phil and UFGN's love affair spilling over into the forum, its a special kind of love.

To the point I do see what Phil's trying to say.

When it happens to Rees-Mogg or Farage its this kind of "Its terrible but they kind of deserve it" treatment, but when it happens to Soubry its an assault on our liberties and her safety.

Basically Phil's saying the media are more sympathetic to the Left leaning .......... I find it difficult to see how that's inaccurate.

Lets be honest if Farage got assaulted, same as if it happened to Trump, half the media if not three quarters would be virtually celebrating.

I mean ........... I'm not being funny but this "increasingly vile, aggressive and intimidating abuse" is a regular weekday for Trump or Farage, no?

The right are responsible for vastly more violence than the left, both in general and in polotics

In this country, in recent years, one political assassination and at least one attempted assassination

Phil also went to the trouble of creating a thread and post to highlight an attack on a far right politician.

The game of the far right and their sympathisers is to cling to any example of violence or intimidation directed at them..... When their meat, drink, bread and butter is intimidation and hate every single day.

How do you define left and Right?

The world's two biggest killers by far - Mao Zedong - Joseph Stalin both who could be described as Left wing .... Khmer Rouge also Left Wing ....

The claim 'The right are responsible for vastly more violence' is just emotive based on Hitler (who started out as a socialist) being a homicidal right wing nutter who lost the war ... Stalin was far worse but he won ....

Whilst the Right wing does indeed contain some odious racist W****rs, they are few in number and 99.9% all talk. The Left wing with their Yellow Vest protests have caused more deaths (10 so far) than Right wing protests have killed in a decade. Both sides are still out of order

The truth is the Far Right and the Far Left are equally odious, history shows that the left are just as violent and have killed just as many people as the right. To try and say one group of extremists is somehow less abhorrent than their opposite number ... is like saying death by drowning is better than death by hanging ... either way you're still dead.

And far more riotous damage, violence and attempted oppression of civil liberties has been perpetrated in this country in the modern era by radical left wingers and left wing anarchists than by any right wing organisation.

I didn't go to any trouble.

There wasn't a thread specifically for European politics, so I created one, and posted an interesting story in it. Nothing else.
