This heavy loss came directly before the January transfer window. Maybe it will motivate the decision makers to do something

I don't know where to post this. Basically, I'm happy that we actually play hard ball in our transfer activity now. Some people still think that they can con us into giving them massive amount of money. Sorry, Spaletti. Not anymore.

Inter star Perisic was conned by Arsenal transfer offer, insists Spalletti

The Gunners showed interest in the Croatia international during January but failed to negotiate a deal
Inter boss Luciano Spalletti insists Ivan Perisic was conned and that the club have to get him back on track after the midfielder had his head turned by interest from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

Spalletti's side lost a dramatic Coppa Italia quarter-final to Lazio on penalties on Thursday in which Perisic was an unused substitute.

Reports had claimed the Serie A club rejected a loan offer for the Croatia international which included an option of a permanent deal for €40 million (£35m/$46m) in the summer, although Inter director Piero Ausilio revealed they had received no suitable offers.

As well as the set back of the saga surrounding Perisic, Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan has struggled this term after suffering an ankle injury earlier in the campaign.

Speaking to Rai Sport after the defeat to Lazio, Spalletti said: “We’ve got to get Perisic back on track, but also Nainggolan, as he had injuries, setbacks and various issues. He needs time on the field and patience.

“As for Perisic, there was this story on the market, but he is a professional, understands his role and yesterday it was already a very different mood. These things happen in the transfer window, the player received an impressive proposal and was tempted. However, he then realised it was not a true offer, that he’d been conned, and took a step back.

“Now he’ll resume training and as soon as his mind is back fully on Inter, we’ll let him play.”

HE'D been 'conned'??!

Spaletti can go f**k himself.

Inter Milan wanted us to pay a sizeable loan fee in addition to a €35m-€45m permanent fee at the end of the loan. For a 30-year old midfielder who doesn't play for them anymore, entering his twilight years and is looking for one last big payday. In Inter Milan's ideal world, it was a win-win for them. Because if he'd flopped during his 6 months with us, there would be nothing we could do about it because we'd have an obligation to buy.

But when that didn't happen, and even when we said we'd pay the penalty for not pursuing the 'obligation to buy' clause of the contract, Inter still refused because they were adamant on a permanent transfer at the end of the loan.

We were right to not go ahead with it.

I'm glad we didn't.

Good on Sanllehi, Fahmy and co. for not being bullied.

Unbeaten during the 2018-19 season vs the ****.

100% win rate if the FA didn't live in the stone age and introduced VAR earlier.

100% win rate if had the linesman matched the higher standards of his superior colleague on the opposite side of the field.

100% win rate of Vertonghen was spotted entering the penalty area before the kick was taken to eventually go on and block the ball.

In a nutshell a win if it wasn't for diabolical officiating, but we can not ignore Auba/Laca's sub par finishing.

All in all, safe for a couple of individual errors, a great team performance away from home against a top 3 side.

In other news, Arsenal fans in fury after drawing an away game against a top 6 opponent. That's a positive swing from last season right?
