Like I have been saying... He is managing like a mid table manager.

We need to be going for the kill against mid and lower table teams.

didnt watch the game, but I trust he played the best team that he could have. The majority of our starting 11 r really midtable quality. So cannot compain.

But how did ozil play? Disappeared as always?

thats like prefering std to cancer.......doesnt mean std is good. We shouldnt be in a position of just settling. Also who says you have to give every manager more than 1 year? Real gave their manager 4 months before they kicked him out. Personally i just dont rate him, but if result dont improve end of the season he has to go. Because why would they improve the year after when 5 teams better than us will improve

Emery's probable line-up:

Leno
Lichtsteiner - Sokratis - Koscielny
Maitland-Niles - Xhaka - Torreira - Kolasinac
Mkhi ------------ Iwobi
Auba

- Where's Ozil, Unai?

He has been dropped for tactical decisions.
For performing poorly against Spurs in the EFL Cup. Such a performance is acceptable at Sevilla.

- What about Lacazette?

He isn't as good as Iwobi.

Pundits:

"Genius Unai Emery teaching Ozil a lesson, showing him how a trophy-winning side behaves."

:hiding:

Damn, you've been nothing but negative when it comes to Emery lately...

Say what Jed? If Mkhi were fit, we'd have finished with that line-up. ;)

This wish to kick Emery out after 6 months is nonsense.

He has inherited a squad of oddities, some of which have the potential to bring us success, but a majority who don't. They are simply not good enough. Rubbish even.

He, his coaching team, and the people above simply must be given time to fix it.

Ozil was neither bad or good. He chased back lots of times so nobody can complain that he neglected that side. He didn't get the ball enough. Torreira, Xhaka and Guendouzi in the middle behind him. Overkill for Brighton.

His substitution made no damn sense. Likewise the Laca sub.

Emery inherited a team with a Wenger mentality. It will take far longer than 5 months to change a decade of failure.

Anyway....despite probably the worst performance of the season, we would have lost this decisively last season. This season it was a fortunate draw.

Clearly something is better!

If ozil did track back, then this diamond midfield ozil-torreira-xhaka-guendouzi is probably the strongest we can field already....

This game highlighted our need for a winger

Brighton are excellent at defending once they are in position. You need to hit them fast before they get into their preferred defensive positions.

It's YOU who doesn't understand football bornagain.

Firstly, I've been a massive critic of Ozil, his stinking attitude and his lack of effort for a long long time.

Get over the personal hatred of Ozil and concentrate on the football will you!

However, in the first half yesterday Ozil played and we created 6 decent chances.
Second half Ozil didn't play and we created one chance - a deflection by Iwobi from clearance by Brighton.

Emry deserves criticism for his bizarre and nonsensical substitutions yesterday. Complete idiocy by the manager IMO.

In Emry's defence, he has inherited an appalling defensive squad.

This is truly the worst defensive squad I've ever seen in Arsenal shirts in the 45 years I'm supporting them. Individually stupid, tactically brainless, individually cowardly and collectively awful. NO AMOUNT OF COACHING WILL CHANGE THESE PLAYERS INTO DECENT DEFENDERS. EVEN MOURINHO COULDN'T IMPROVE THEM DEFENSIVELY.

We conceded over 50 last season. We will do the same again this season. The only way the manager can improve our defence is to play with 5 defenders every week - doing that will affect our play. It's not gonna happen and nor should it.

Also, long term, Emry is stuck with these terrible players because no self respecting manager would come near any of them - well no self respecting English PL manager anyway. So he HAS to play them. Hence his attempts to change their set up in the hope that it will minimize their deficiencies. So far it's not working.

I really fear for the Liverpool game if Sane/Mane/Firminho/etc keep playing the way they're playing.

Up front, Auba is like Bendtner atm - needs 3-5 chances to score one. He's really average. I rate Laca more, but it seems that Emry prefers Auba in the middle.

Finishing Top 6 would be quite an achievement IMO given the trainwreck of a squad left by Wenger.

So what do Arsenal need?

At a minimum, a GK, 3 defenders and a world class striker. in reality we're not going to get these for about 3-4 seasons. The owner doesn't see any need. Oh, and if Ramsay goes, that will just make us worse - it ringfences games for Iwobi/Xhaka/AN Other average player.
