I wonder if there's any specific reason we do so well in the second half, or is it just coincidence?
Unai's HT talks must be ferocious.

I think it's partially by design:

First half

-Stay structured
-don't take risks or allow opportunities for counters
-get opposition into a groove of how we are playing
-get them to chase the ball to sap energy (big reason for the playing out from the back, so they are forced to close down constantly).

-Second half

-add fresh legs early to exploit tired legs
-Widen play to stretch defences
-Late runners through middle to receive cut backs and exploit spaces left by wider defences
-change sub positions dependant on in game situation ie more legs needed through middle. More defenders to preserve a lead etc

so important to have Aubameyang, Lacazette and Ramsey upfront, all 3 can score goals.

And I love the new formation with 3 CBs and 2 WB. This allows Kolasinac and Bellerin can attack more, while we basically have 5 defenders 3CB and 2DM. Guendouzi, Torreira, and Xhaka have the ability to find attackers from deep, we may not play beautifully like Cesc and RVP era, but now we are much more direct and effective.

It doesn't matter if it was offside because the free kick wasnt a free kick to begin with!

For their first?

It was a free kick.

You can see him being caught by papa so no complaints there.

Seen the penalty incident millions of times. Slow motion, zoomed in you name it, I've seen it and I see no contact.

The vertonghen red, he got the ball clearly so another dean shocker. Yes the follow through caught our player but what's he supposed to do? Stop in mid flight and change the laws of nature. If that was our player I'd have been pissed.

The 2nd yellow and red was harsh I agree. He was knocking the ball away before Laca could get to it. Bad call imo. But oh well we'll get our fair share of bad calls against us too.

Mark Clattenburg reckons both of their goals should have been disallowed.

“Mike Dean should not have allowed either of Tottenham’s goals...Eric Dier was just offside when Christian Eriksen whipped over the free-kick for 1-1. And Son Heung-min dived for Spurs’ penalty. Rob Holding lunged into a tackle but made no contact with Son."

I still think there was slight contact, but not enough to make Son go down. Also for Eric's goal it's close but looks like our last guy was keeping him on side. Doesn't really matter either way now though.

lol wot, that Vertonghen challenge was a straight red on it's own, could've broken his ankle. Only way Dean got it wrong was giving him just a 2nd yellow.

Yup. There was another challenge early on from foyth that was defo reckless too. He lost possession and went flying in off the ground hard against iwobi I think. The one where it popped up and Eriksen knocked on to son quickly and they were in.

So many shitty or dodgy challenges were let go for them.

Still buzzing now. I must have watched aubas 2nd and torrieras goals 50 times a piece since yesterday. Absolute bangers...

So he should've defied the laws of physics/gravity/nature and stop as soon as he got the ball?
