Seems solid, massive improvement on Kos on that showing

Haven't seen much of the preseason so this was my first impression of him. Didn't do anything to cost us the game so already better than Mustafi and Koscielny.

Pretty much just proved it's stupid to judge a player based on preseason. Hopefully he maintains it.

Also, hopefully Guendouzi proves that you can judge a player based on preseason

Can’t judge him as had nothing to do. All city’s attack was down the wings

Some sensibility, eh?

We do have issues in the squad but the way people were slating Papa, it was like we'd signed Squillaci again.

He'll be fine.

The PL is a bigger challenge than the Bundesliga. He did fine.

He still looked a little slow, City attacked us down the flanks so this was a relatively 'easy' game for a central defender particularly one with his experience, but let's not kid ourselves City could and probably should have had 3/4 .... Papa's problem will be yellow cards, EPL refs are going to card him every week for those miss-timed tackles ...
That said he looks a huge step up from what we had before, and he won't face City every week .....

I thought he was pretty good, much more commitment than our usual options, And yeah City exploited our left hand side knowing Niles was not a natural there and then Lichtsteiner afterwards, and the right knowing the fact Bellerin can't tackle.

Had we had Lichtsteiner on the right and Monreal on the left we would have defended much better.
