Heres to hoping that Pogba and Hazard still leave, so they can't be replaced til Jan.

It makes perfect sense for the window to close before the first match. As long as all clubs know the rules there can be no downside really

Would have cut out some of Wenger's bullshit if it had been this way before

Don't like it, can understand why it's done but don't think it works.

September 1st gives you 3 weeks to assess your squad and see if you need further signings. Also think big European windows should be in sync within 3/4 days otherwise still a risk of losing your key player and not being able to replace (doubt it and get big ££ but still).

Doesn't help it was a WC year as well so only 3 weeks between that and end of the window to get stuff done and play friendlies and get everyone fit.

Just don't like it, hope they put it back.

Makes sense to close it before the first match only if every major league does likewise. Makes no sense otherwise as English clubs might lose players but cant replace them

That would mean closing up to two weeks before their leagues start so doubt it.

After today, it's pretty clear we should have bought a winger. Probably didn't have the money as Cranky needs it all for his new mansion.

I agree Zaha would have been perfect (and realistic) for what we need.

I think Palace are asking silly money.

He would have improved us, he would have resell value, market is what it is, end of the day we would be better with him

I'm not sure his resale value would reflect anywhere near the 75m they're asking. Zaha is worth 75m to Palace because he's the difference between relegation and Premier League football. He doesn't have the same value to other teams. That's been well reflected by the fact that no one came in for him near that price. Spurs came in at 45m, Chelsea bid 30+Drinkwater. That's closer to his value to top teams.
