That really is a stunning photo. I've never seen it. Was that last week then?

Unbelievable. Two absolute titans of the game. Probably the fiercest managerial rivalry in history, both personally and professionally, yet the respect they have for each other is incredible. They just don't make them like that anymore. That said, I don't think Arsene is the same Arsene from 2002. He's a shadow these days.

Yes

Makes you wonder doesn't it? When the rivalry was so heated, they couldn't even look at each other. Didn't Wenger once refuse to name Ferguson in a conference or something? Referred to him as 'that man'? In the end though, wow, the respect for each other. You'd think they were best of friends. Perhaps in their own way, the deep respect they have brings about a certain type of friendship? Seeing Ferguson clap Wenger in the way he did just shows what Ferguson thinks of him, a lot more than people perhaps believe.

That said, it's easy to clap someone, when, with the benefit of hindsight, you probably won the war.

It's kind of strange to think the respect Ferguson has for Wenger, seems to be overwhelmingly more than the respect Arsenal supporters have for him.

^^ Re the last sentence the answer is obvious

Arsenal fans care about Arsenal. He doesn't. He doesn't give a monkey's if we get relegated.

Would Fergie have been so friendly if wenger had more trophies than him? Wenger was always a nice guy, fergie started being nice when wenger stopped being a threat.

Not sure I'd agree that Wenger was 'always a nice guy'. Wenger, much like Ferguson was a competitor and very much a 'winner'..... Neither took losing well and especially when they had lost to each other. For some reason several years down the line, that changed. Ferguson remained a winner, Wenger became satisfied with a level of 'near-the-top' mediocrity. The move from Highbury clearly took a huge toll and then as Wenger dismantled the remains of the Invincibles, he's never been able to recruit the kind of talent he had in that team.
