↑ ATCQ, good guy. Phife Dawg passed away a couple of weeks ago in case you didn't know...

Don't tell me you never checked out Eric B. & Rakim, Del The Funkee Homosapien, KRS-One and Main Source?

The latter introduced NAS to the game fs, for that reason alone they can't be overlooked. Nas' debut can be heard on "Live at the Barbecue" from the album "Breaking Atoms", which for me goes down as one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time.

Skip anything by that man if you care for precious time that you can never claim back.

But saying that, life is all about making mistakes and learning from them right? So sure, give an hour of your time to that muppet.

Says someone who probably doesn't even know the difference between rap and hip-hop in general. Stay ignorant :clap:

Hip-hop is better than rap though so Optimus has a point.

More people are calling this thread absurd than actually making absurd suggestions. Maybe if you guys talked about who you liked instead of shitting on who other people like, it'd be a more enjoyable read ;)

Has anyone other than Alexis17 (an evident pop fan, not that there's anything wrong with that) actually made outlandish claims?

I'm certain I already said 2pac and Nas were amongst my favourites.. Few pages back. I just think the Drake hype is absurd lol. Very successful artist - don't mind his music at all, but shouldn't be talked about in a Greatest Rapper thread.

Also, if I could make a recommendation re contemporary rappers;

Dave East. He's from Harlem and has been signed by Nas - got that old school NY flow.

Tis an important part of hiphop... shitting on those that really shouldn't bother.

Like all genres, 95% is utter trash.

I don't disagree, but the only way to stop reading about average musicians like Drake is to divert the conversation to true talents.
