I am in the minority so be it. He is a hit and run kind of a manager. He is the first to abandon the ship when he sees a calamity. Ad i have said before loves to build over already good squads and lacks the zeal to develop from scratch. He is a luxury manager suited for clubs with endless pits of money. We need a long term manager who wants to be there through thick and thin.

I saw somewhere that Pep started his coaching badges at Arsenal, is this true?

Always thought he liked traditional clubs, if so united would be his choice.

I've been saying for some time that when Pep decided to leave Bayern, he was nailed on for City. They've been courting him for years and have gone above and beyond in their attempts to make themselves an attractive proposition to him. They'll drop Pellegrini as soon as Pep becomes available (as he has done) without a moment's hesitation.

Why doesn't he stay more than 3-4 seasons? It's a bit disturbing that today's best managers are so short sighted.

Because there are now managers in football apart from Arsene Wenger. Every other 'manager' is a coach. I personally feel it's unhealthy for a coach to stay at a club for more than 5 years in modern football

I think Barcelona is way to demanding or Madrid to stay there for years.

One year without a trophy is like a disaster there, fergie wasn't working under that level of pressure.

Bayern his prob a bit bored to be honest he knows the title is won before the season starts.

At united, liverpool and arsenal you can still manage for a long time, the boards seem content with a top 4 finish.

I have no reason to believe that would change under Wenger and the Glazers are business people and they are prob craving for someone that can stay there for a long time and just finish top 4 and get their CL and sponsor money every year.

Only issue the leauge is more competitive now with the TV money, the old sky 4 doesn't exist so to maintain your job is harder.

After Fergie, Wenger really will be the last of a dying breed.

You're right about the coach thing.

I think Arsenal are the only Premier League club who's 'manager' chooses what players to buy. It's getting the same in the Championship as well.

In a way it's good that they concentrate on the main job at hand but I'm not convinced when it comes to signing players.

The way it should work is a manager submits a shortlist of who he wants to the board then a director of football should assemble a team that arranges the deal. The manager/coach shouldn't be involved with the fiscal side of any deal imo; but obviously they can help convince the player.
