Like/Dislike Buttons

Postby #ST » Wed Nov 04, 2015 9:20 am

Hey so Ive been on Goonersworld for a while now and enjoying my stay very much.
I dont post alot because most of the time Im just browsing through the topics on my phone and I cant be bothered to type a reply but that doesnt mean I wouldnt like to agree/disagree with someone from time to time without putting in the work of quoting said person and going 'yeahh!!' on their ass.

I think it would make it much easier ( and less gay ) if there was a like/dislike button added.

I have a ( small ) forum myself and we have that function on there as well. Im sure I could get my guy to hook us up over here as well ( he's like a problem solver, he likes to solves problems )
I dont know I just figured since we have the poster of the month thing and all wouldnt it make it easier? Just see what posts got the most likes..

Its a win-win in all regards. So, what do you think Goonersworld?

LIKE IF YOU AGREE ( just kidding )

My host updates anything we need and adds on any features.

To be honest, I could see a lot of dislikes on posts just because of who the member is rather than the post.

I do understand what your saying though and the Like button would be good for those who agree with the post and don't have the time to reply.

I think a like button would be best and a reputation system. Think people already get bitchy enough without a dislike button.

Part of the success of this and other Internet forums is that people "put the effort in" to type replies or new topics and contribute to it by doing so.

If you help people to be lazy by not having to type anything then I think you will end up with less topics, less replies and less requirement for people to elaborate on what they're saying.... overall a worse forum.

Well wouldnt you rather have them press on Dislike than reply and troll? Think of the positives. It could cut back on alot of spam posts. Plus really, I myself have noticed on my own ( way, way smaller forum ) that it actually helps with the posts being constructive/funny posts because people like to have lots of likes ( even if they dont admit it )

I could live with this idea being input partially, I would just like it more if we'd have both ( like AND dislike )

Well thats really why it shouldnt matter that we do add it. People moan WITHOUT the system XD I hardly see what difference it would make. Person A will still hate person B and etc.

I completely understand your point of view but my forum is WAY WAY less active than this one, with a maximum online at the same time of .. 14 people? And we still have plenty of topics.

I just dont think it would affect THIS forum negatively at all. This forum is oozing with activity. Seriously.

It is "oozing with activity" now, but that would deteriorate if this suggestion was put in place.

Well to be fair IF that happens, you could just remove it again? I personally do not think it will happen but you are free to think otherwise.
