That is annoying.

I've just come here to vent. Apologies to those who have already read many similar posts.

I two major pet peevs when it comes to Arsenal's defending.

The first is that the entire Arsenal team should never form one back line and leave opposition midfield players free just outside the box. The defenders should be trusted to do their job and the midfielders should pick up the opposition midfielders. Otherwise the ball in to the box wiill be defended and fall to an opposition midfielder who will have time and space to shoot.

The second is that players on the edge of the box should be closed down more quickly.

I think Olympicaos's first goal could be attributed to the second problem, and their third goal can be attributed to the first problem. The problem was compounded on their third goal because, after most of the Arsenal defenders had formed an impenetrable wall on the edge of the six-yard box, five of the six players all ran to the ball (under-12s style) leaving the Olympicaos goal scorer in a completely open position. Surely they must be taught that this isn't a good idea.

I am a staunch Arsene Wenger supporter, he's put the club in the position to compete (at least in transfer fees) with the best in the world so he deserves his chance to use the money in the way he sees fit. But can somebody tell me, please, that he coaches midfielders to NOT drop so deep that they are in line with the centre backs, and that they MUST close the ball down quickly when the opposition is in possession around the final third.

And breath...

so he benched monreal and cech in a match that defines our CL campaign. Im actually glad we lost and I mean that. Its not like we would win the CL or get anywhere anyway. I am just enjoying seeing him get slaughtered. God he is beyond arrogant. Mourinho is a scumbag, but he was absolutely right about year in year out failing and no pressure. The papers are talking about the end of Mourinho, but not Wenger lool

Ironically, Cech wouldn't have saved the other two either, the defending there was abysmal, especially Mertesacker, anyone could have turned it in from there, even Sanogo

Let's start with the positives. I've finally seen us score at home. I've waited a long time and it's happened. Yay.

As mentioned previously in this thread, I was supposed to go to the cinema and thus miss this. Unfortunately for me my friends kid had to be taken to the hospital and she couldn't come. Just my luck. I wasn't happy. Stupid kids. Oh well I hadn't given the season ticket to anyone else yet so decided to go after all.

Got to the train station and for the first time in my match going experience I had to wait quite a bit for the train. Bad start. Thought nothing of it, it finally came. Sat down and went about watching Fear The Walking Dead on my phone. Some call it a show, I call it research on what not to do when the inevitable zombie crisis happens and it will happen. I have foreseen this.

Not an eventful trip. Got to the stadium without much fuss. As usual stopped in front of the Emirates as fans gathered by to want to take photos with me and I duly obliged. Have to keep the peons happy. Got to upper tier and as per usual went to get a snack and a drink. Found out no alcohol is allowed. Wtf is up with that? I don't drink but my alter ego does. Not happy.

Took my seat, on the phone to the future wife and also another lass when an awesome song comes on. Cheerleader by some dude. Got the crowd going. We're all pumped up and then grout back to earth as London Calling comes back on. I go back to my phone. Before I forget, the advert they showed in the big screen, the racism one where they have players saying say no to racism or some shit like that, Ronaldo got a massive cheer from the crowd when he came on. Then came Messi.....needless to say the boos, the hisses, dear god it was loud.

Champions league music comes on. Emotional. Love that music. Possibly the last time I'm hearing it as my cousins are going to the Bayern and Zagreb games. I didn't know it then it would by my last time. I think I snap chatted it but I'm old and don't know how to use these latest fads.

Game starts. Usual tippy tappy shit. Then all of a sudden a couple of breaks in full speed and this is the Arsenal we know and loved back in the invincible era. We dominate. We concede. That's the Arsenal we know and hate after the invincible era. Diabolical defending.

Few minutes later we score with a Martial like finish from Theo. Henry who? Surely we'll go on and win this against a team who hasn't won in England. Clear favourites surely. I underestimated wengers shitness.

2-1 down. Ospina with a great catch making a mockery of his critics and his lack of height crap. Unfortunately he caught it and went over the line. Teach him to stay the right side and he's a winner.

Half time comes and goes. My mind goes elsewhere and I don't notice players are back out and kicked off. Sign of dementia? I hope so. Never want to see shit like this again

We dominate. How we didn't score from one piece of play, I'll never know but great defending by the Greeks. We keep pressuring. Old couple behind me chatting shit about non football stuff so I stick some music on on my Bluetooth headphones to drown them out.

Sanchez with a great header after a phenomenal cross from Theo. Shout out to my man Billo here. Backstreet Boys are on, we score. 2-2. We're winning this for sure. Once more I underestimate Wenger.

Within seconds they score. I think they only attacked 3 or 4 times and scored 3 goals which makes me think, had they really gone for it, we'd be ripped apart.

2-3. We don't do much else for the rest of the game bar tippy tappy.

Games ends. Boos surround me. Genuinely thought Messi was on the pitch.

On a side note, are we the only club that don't show replays of own goals?

Also the referee was diabolical. Not the reason we lost but he was really bad. Did some research and he's Dutch. Apparently they call him the Dutch Mike Dean over there. Do we have any Dutch pubbers on here to confirm this?

Back on the train home, watching another episode of FTWD and I notice a man wearing a man Utd top on the train. Lucky c***.

Oh well on we go

Yeah because he'd of lit the game up with all those deuces and hatricks he never scores.

Fact is Walcott produced the exact same output Giroud does ......... except Walcott has been scoring every game, or did you forget Giroud's 8 game scoreless streak?

That being said he may of come off the bench and got his one goal tbf I don't deny but that would be a maybe at best, if he'd of started he'd of scored no more than Walcott, history proves that.

Of course It had tp be about Walcott vs Giroud lol.

What else is there?

Call it post traumatic stress from being subjected to 4 years of Project Giroud, I'm not sure I'll ever get over it.
