... asside from upfront of course, Theo well and truly earned his starting place.

Yeah, he was world class against Soton.

I think you're carrying the Walcott hatred through at least four different threads now PG, well done, you're nothing if not dedicated!

... who's our top scorer by the way?

I don't hate Walcott I just won't celebrate his signing a new contract as if he was anywhere near as important as cesc/RVP!

Top scorer by a couple of goals with 3 players just two goals behind him.

walcott 14 goals 10 assists 12 starts
cazorla 7 goals 6 assists 26 starts
giroud 9 goals 6 assists 15 starts
podolski 9 goals 7 assists 24 starts

you were saying?

walcott has the most goals + assists, least game time

also for the record against southampton he got an assist. more than any other of our attackers did. let's bench them too?

if he is earning his starting place than neither is anyone else

I have a feeling Jenks will start ahead of Sagna against Swansea and rightly so. Sagna needs to regather himself and sort his game out and sort out pretty soon.

+1

Nobody can question Walcott's starting spot in the form that he is in at this point in time. Be it on the wing or up-front he has been smashing for us. If he is not worthy of a start, then i am afraid nobody deserves to.

Have to say that without Theo at the moment, we would be talking about who is below us, rather than who is above us.
The question which might lend itself to the discussion is whether Theo should start as Center forward (I don't think he should btw) or whehter that position should be rotated among Theo/Pod/Giroud depending on teh oppo.

Letting Theo play centre forward regardless of the style of the opponent is too simplistic in my book and allows a team to plan in advance, knowing that little Theo will be up against them up top.

Agreed.

The more pertinent question at this point in time would be where Theo should start and not if he should start

I thought Theo's FK was on target when it was deflected... Disappointed when I wasn't given those fantasy points :disgust:
