Frustrated Sagna hits out summer sales and reveals no talks over his own future

Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has revealed his frustration at a summer which saw two top players leave and his own future fail to be sorted out.

The France international, who has just entered the final two years of his contract, watched on as Robin van Persie was sold to Manchester United for £24million before Alex Song followed him out the door in a shock £15m deal to Barcelona.

Sagna, 29, is currently working his way back to fitness from a broken leg and is one of the Gunners' most seniors players after five years in north London.

But speaking out as he has done but dampen spirits at Arsenal, who have enjoyed a steady start to a season through which they were once again expected to struggle.

On the departures, Sagna said: 'When your two best players go, you ask yourself questions. Fans come up to me in street, and I understand the frustration. Like them I don't understand everything.

'Everyone knew Robin was leaving. But Alex? He's 24 and with three years left on his contract. I still don't understand it. He's a huge loss.'

Sagna has seen international colleagues Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy leave - as well as Cesc Fabregas - and achieve success elsewhere. The former Auxerre man is yet to win a trophy in his professional career and admits seeing old friends triumph has been hard.

He added in L'Equipe: 'I'm the only starting player left from 2007. In May, I watched Manchester City's parade on television and I saw Samir and Gael lift the trophy. I want that.

'At the end of this season, I will have one year left on my contract. Did someone talk with me about it ? No, nobody.

'For the moment, I want to play with Arsenal, and find my level again. All the rest is expectation. Everyone has a faith.'

I fully understand him, seeing other veterans sold and having no consistency to win titles.
Not that the board care about his opinions, they will probably sell him too because he doesn't agree with their opinions.

Not at all, throw in young Jack and vermaelen, should allow Wenger to buy another 12 players with the money.

His contract runs out in the summer of 2014, if the board looks to actually learn from their mistakes in the past, they should IMMEDIATELY start talking about a new contract. Otherwise next summer the same Nasri/Fabregas and RVP/Song saga will continue next year with Gibbs, Sagna and Walcott. -Sczesny's contract also runs out in 2014, while Walcott, Arshavin, Chamakh, Squillaci and Fabianski are looking to walk out for free at the end of the season.
I don't really mind to see players like Squillaci, Chamakh and Fabianski go for nothing but contracts like AA's/TW's/WS's/BS's/KG's should be handled A.S.A.P. Don't confuse this with me claiming we should keep all of these players, but if you're looking to sell them, at least sell them for a reasonable price rather instead of half of their market value, like we have been doing for many, many years. This does not include guys like Chamakh, Squillaci, etc ... the sooner we offload them the better, even if we don't get anything for them. [Chamakh was for free anyway]

Oh no, it's happened again. I get a player name printed on my shirt and it looks like he wants to leave.

The problem Z, the board doesn't think they've made any mistakes.

He's one of those players who we can't lose. He's the best RB in the PL.
