Arsenal full-back Bacary Sagna has undergone successful surgery on his broken leg and is expected to be sidelined for a minimum of three months.

The France international suffered the injury during the Gunners' 2-1 defeat to North London rivals Tottenham on Sunday.

The French Football Federation revealed later that evening that the defender was set to be ruled out of action for around 12 weeks.

Arsenal claim they are still working to that timescale, with Sagna ready to begin his rehabilitation.

He went under knife on Monday after it was decided that an operation was required to help him make a full recovery.
Investigations

"Bacary Sagna has this afternoon undergone further assessment and investigations on his fractured right fibula with the club's medical team and specialists," read a statement released on Arsenal's official website.

"As a result of these tests, Bacary has had surgery to stabilise the injury.

"The surgery went according to plan and there has been no significant alteration to the initial prognosis that Bacary will be out of action for a minimum of three months.

"Everyone at the club wishes Bacary a speedy recovery."

Wenger brought in Jenkinson as back up to Sagna in case of something like this would happen,so I really don't see him moving a left back there or a midfielder.Jenkinson will be given his chance,if he's crap then they will look at the the alternatives.

While they have reported that Sagna will be out for three months,we all know it will be much longer than that.I fully expect that we won't see Sagna return to his old self until next season at the earliest, when he does return to training it will take a long time for him to gain confidence back in his leg.

I wonder will Wenger look at bringing in a replacement in January,he could sign a central defender who also can play right back...that would be the ideal scenario

unlike all the other leg breaks at our club, I hope he gets back to his best after he's recovered
Ramsey, Eduardo and Diaby (he was at least vaguely passable as a footballer) have never been the same since

I don't understand why we sold eboué and remplaced him with a unproven player like jenkinson. IMO that was a big mistake by wenger.

???/Jorginho
Odegaard/Smith Rowe----Rice/???
Saka/Jesus-------------------Martinelli/Trossard

If I were him that is what I'd do but safe to say he knows more about it than this entire forum combined.

Could Alex play at RB, if Chelsea get Cahill they won't need Alex.

I'd rather have Song there.

Doesn't matter anyhow, since Sagna is due back in January. Wenger will either use that as a "like a new signing" if he returns, or "I thought he would be back" if he isn't healthy before the end of the window. Highly doubt we're buying Alex.

Diaby does well in a CAM role, I'll admit it. He is played more as a CM if I'm not mistaken.

What is with our medical team getting those surgeons to cut open every players ankle???

He fractured his fibula and they still can't resist taking a peek at his ankles!

The fibula is part of the "ankle" at the bottom of it. And I'd imagine that the break was very near the joint. That's probably why it required surgery, as they probably put pins in it to join the bone or something.

Both are, are they not?

Isn't one the bump on the inside and the other the bump on the outside?

edit: yep, both are. Thanks google!
