What do you think of Sagna's season?

Postby Fordy » Thu Jun 11, 2009 3:14 pm

How do feel it has gone

For me he has been under par and part of whats been wrong with arsenal this season

I feel a lot of Arsenals strength comes from the wing backs getting forward because of the lack of natural wingers in the squad

for some reason i don't think he has played like he did the season before and i think its hurt Arsenal

He is still a quality player but i think Arsenal need to get him back to his best to be challenging next season

Hard 2nd season but having the great first season he had it was going to be hard to repeat it

I think perhaps the death of this brother affected him more than he thought.

Second season syndrome is also a factor. Still needs to work on his crossing though.

I agree he wasn't as good as last season and certainly didn't contribute as much going forward either, but I still think he's a fantastic player.

One of the first names on the team sheet.. he's got to keep working hard though. I think Eboue needs to focus on trying to challenge him for the spot.

Probabaly our most consistent defender throughout the season tbh.
Also I've liked the fact that he seems to be getting stuck in a lot more thesedays, one trait that most of our defenders lack imo.

Nothing special but he was still consistant as, and the defensive side of his game was solid.

Still one of the best.

Decently defensively. Not bad getting forward, but I wish he would learn how to cross.

Defensively he's difficult to go past and can help out in aerial balls but other than that i'd prefer eboue at right back

Not sure how anyone could prefer Eboue over Sagna.

The guy is a class act. Mr Consistency.

If anyone needs replacing it may be Clichy.

I think he's great. Keeps to himself, does his job quietly and efficiently and is our most consistent player. Not always the best going forward but defensively he is a class act.

His form has suffered a little but I think that's less his own problem and more the team's as a whole.

He can't cross for shit though.

jep. our FBs can't cross. what a shame. I said it many times: I would rotate more our FB position. we've got eboué and gibbs who can chalenge sagna and clichy so I don't see why we shouldn't rotate more. sagna plays nearly every game. he guy needs a rest. because his form will drop.

I hate it when sagna passes backwards when he could have skillfully cut through to midfield like eboue does.he doesnt have that skill

Sagna is good, he's not peforming as well as last season so far, he did have an immense first season.
All our FBs need to learn how to cross, then maybe Bendtner will be played in the middle, so he can get on to decent crosses.
At the sametime, if one of the FBs is attacking most of the time, then the other should perhaps be more selective on when he goes up to join in the attack.
