Alan Ball's former team-mates have been quick to pay tribute to the England World Cup winner.
Ball died of a heart-attack on Tuesday night aged 61.
He started his career at Blackpool, was man of the match when England won the World Cup in 1966 and went on to play for Everton, Arsenal and Southampton.
Former Toffees team-mate Howard Kendall hailed him as "the best player I ever played with", while Sir Bobby Charlton said he was "an inspiration to us all" when England came from behind to beat West Germany 4-2 in the World Cup final. Jack Charlton is mourning the loss of his "best friend in football".
Liam Brady, who played with Ball at Arsenal and Lawrie McMenemy who signed him for Second Division Southampton, both singled out his inspirational qualities, while Sir Geoff Hurst admitted that the England side of 66 are "devastated by the loss".
A sad week in football when yet another legend passes away, especailly at such a young age.
