Of course it's due to money ffs, they quite clearly weighed up the cost of it against the likelihood of anyone being alive after 2/3 days at sea and determined it wasn't worth it.
Really that simple, even if it is blunt.

I'm not doubting the professionalism of the search and rescue teams but it suggests that either their tactics were wrong, or they lack the resources needed for such a search
This isn't just about finding a light aircraft, it calls into question their ability to find people and victims in other situations, leading potentially to crimes going unsolved or accidents going un-investigated

Cardiff released this information? why? to make Nantes look bad, to delay payment? ... that's pretty low gutter tactics ...
Why should Nantes have to wait for Cardiff's insurance? How were Cardiff going to pay if he was still alive?
Nantes are a piss-poor club, they sold a star player in January no doubt because they needed the cash, it's not their fault a Cardiff player was killed. Cardiff should have made 100% sure Nantes got paid .... it's very bad form, and disrespectful in the extreme, to use a tragedy to avoid paying your bills. Cardiff are the bad-boys here not Nantes ...
