Yes the professional search and rescue teams have finished their search.

Only passing fishing boats are still looking on an informal basis

Nothing more to say, sadly it's over.

Really sad.

I bet this and the Leicester helicopter crash make some people think about how they travel. These smaller aircraft always com with the additional risks.

Traveling in a single engine aircraft is obviously more risky than a multi-engine one. Traveling in that single engine aircraft over water obviously increases that risk. Traveling in that same aircraft over water and at night...

Poor guy.

Crazy how a PL player was in such a sketchy situation though.

Sad puts things into perspective. Can't imagine what his family bis going through. It's a different sort of torture not having physical closure.

Hope their remains are also found so that the families and associates can have a proper funeral.

It's concerning that it took a privately run search to find the plane and the body

I'm not doubting the professionalism of the search and rescue teams but it suggests that either their tactics were wrong, or they lack the resources needed for such a search

This isn't just about finding a light aircraft, it calls into question their ability to find people and victims in other situations, leading potentially to crimes going unsolved or accidents going uninvestigated

It’s a completely different type of search.

The initial search was a rescue operation looking for signs of life or debris on the surface. This is a hugely different type of operation using specialised sonar kit to find objects deep under water. In this case 150m under water.

You can not compare the two.

I know it's a different type of search but clearly still one that needed to be carried out

If the private search with their specialist equipment had come up with nothing, then an argument could be made. The fact that they've been successful so quickly asks questions of why this wasnt done by the coast guards, police and other services from three different states. (UK, Guernsey and France)

Obviously the answer is likely to be money. But if this sort of tech is available and works, maybe priorities need to be reconsidered
