I don't think so he was just not given the chances that Artea had plus some of the numpty disrespectful assholes in the squad. He will go on to win a few things with the Villans just wait and see. I wish him well.

Following Wenger was always going to be a tough gig. He did 'ok' but needed a clearout and wasn't able to take on the holidaymakers (ozil, auba and co) the way Arteta did.

He's doing a brilliant job.

Will be really interesting to see how he gets on second season though. At Villarreal second season he had a real barren spell and at one point was favourite for the sack but for his EL heroics. Similar at Arsenal in some ways. That and his player management - some murmurs that he's already fallen out with Coutinho.

Hopefully the board back him in the summer then we'll get a real sense of his level over an entire season.

Yep, he wasn't backed in the boardroom. They thought he should be steamrolling his way into Top 4 with the squad of clowns he was told to work with. Imagine lining up against City with Lichsteiner, Mustafi, Iwobi, Xhaka and Mkhitaryan.

He accomplished a lot considering it's taken over 3 years and £300m in new players to surpass his points haul.

Well those who supported Emery are being proved right about his ability!!

Still in the driving seat for a CL spot, still in Europe with far less resources than clubs they're ahead of.

Fair play to him.

Well done by the Don. Villa in the semis of a European comp, first time in 50 years.

His Villarreal team also knocked out Bayern in 2022 in their first CL campaign. Yet we have people in this forum making excuses about Arsenal lacking European heritage.

Congrats to the Don, amazing achievement with Villa. 1st full season at the club and he's got them in the CL. They were 18th when he took over.

More than half of his current squad were signed under Gerrard or before then, he didn't get to buy a new team.

Aston Villa appointed manager Emery in October 2022 with the Villains 14th in the Premier League, three points from the relegation zone.

The Birmingham-based club had finished their previous two seasons in 14th and 17th and had been playing in the Championship just three years earlier in 2019.

But Emery the Don has turned Villa's fortunes round. Only Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal have collected more Premier League points than Villa since the Spaniard took charge.

He has to be the manager of the year surely, the Don has outshone them all.    :hail:
