Scottish Football 2016/17

I don't care if I'm just talking to myself all season, it's worth creating this thread just for this:

Rangers fans angry after Siri says club is four years old

Rangers fans have been left angry after discovering the iPhone personal assistant says the club was founded in 2012.

The question is a source of taunts from other clubs after Rangers came through liquidation and relegation.

When the Siri voice-activated assistant is asked "When were Rangers formed?" it replies "Wednesday, December 19, 2012" instead of 1872 date Rangers began.

Siri is taking its information from the Wolfram Alpha search engine.

The 2012 reply refers to the initial public offering on the stock exchange.

The truth hurts.

In all seriousness though, this season is shaping up to be one of the best Scotland's had for years. It'll be interesting to see how Rangers fare and how well Rodgers can do at Celtic.

Finally time for the end of that one team league ;)

It's good to see Rangers and the Old Firm back.

I'm going to go ahead and predict:

1. Celtic
2. Aberdeen
3. Hearts
4. Rangers

Could be completely wrong of course - tough to predict how well Rangers will do - but I would be surprised if the Old Firm immediately dominate again just as they did before the old Rangers went bust.

Im sorry, I'm really trying to think of something positive to say about Scottish football but it's like I've got a Tourette’s afflicted demon inside me that wants to blurt out "shit grounds" and "one party state" and "Carlton Cole"

Yeah, I think it'll take a couple of seasons for Rangers to actually start challenging Celtic.

I'd swap Aberdeen and Hearts from your prediction, but who knows with Rangers? They could immediately finish in a Europa League position for all we know. Hopefully Scotland can reclaim a second CL spot in the future though—will be good for the league.

I think what happened with Rangers was necessary - if they'd gone bust and kept their place in the top division it would have been a farce - but there's no doubt that the league has suffered as a result. Celtic haven't had really had an incentive to push on without Rangers alongside them and they've definitely regressed as a result, which has been reflected in the more recent European performances. It'd be nice to see the likes of Aberdeen and Hearts make things interesting and compete with Rangers for a few seasons at least but before long it'll likely go back to being a top two again.

I do find it interesting that when Rangers got kicked out Scotland did have 2 CL spots and 3 high starting EL places. Now after Celtic's one team league for 4 years, they're now left with 1 in the 2nd round CL and 2 of their 3 EL teams starting in the 1st round with Faroe and Gibraltarian teams.

They never did think of the consequences that throwing Rangers out would destroy their coefficient did they?

This is total and utter shit.

Firstly, you're completely wrong in saying that Scotland lost it's two Champions League qualifying places in the period after Rangers went bust. The last season Scotland has two places was the 2009/10 season, and Rangers didn't go out of business until 2012. Scottish football was already on the decline before their demise.

Secondly, you're also talking total shite about the coefficient taking a massive hit after Rangers left the division.

Here's the coefficient points earned in the four years before Rangers went bust:

2008/09: 1.875
2009/10: 2.666
2010/11: 3.600
2011/12: 2.750

And here's the four years after;

2012/13: 4.300
2013/14: 3.250
2014/15: 4.000
2015/16: 3.000

So, to conclude, in the four years prior to Rangers going busting, Scotland's coefficient points equalled 10.891, or 2.723 per season. In the four years after, the total is 14.55, or 3.648.

In the four years since Rangers went bust Celtic have gotten into the group stage twice and even made it into the round of 16 in 2013 as well. I know you love to pedal this lie that everything went tits up after Rangers got the boot - which was just what they deserved - but you've proved time and time again you don't know what you're talking about.

Looks like RVP is going to sign for Rangers.

As if I needed any more reason to hate him.

Always preferred Rangers but might now have to change.

Cowdenbeath or Stenhousemuir, they still exist?

Looks like Rangers might challenge Celtic sooner than we all thought, provided he stays healthy.

Have to feel for ya, bud—first United, then Rangers.

RVP to Rangers lol oh how the mighty have fallen shame he left he'd still be loved and leading the line for us now and we would have won the league last season.

Even Kolo may have been kept up until now after all Wenger's policy on oldies started to change considering Arteta and Rosicky finished this season at 34 and 35 respectively.

Safe standing has been a great success so far at Celtic Park:

Let's hope it's allowed to happen in the Premier League before long.
