Can Klopp survive this season if they miss CL? How much credit does he have with the owners and fans?

Of course, he can "survive" one season without UCL football. He's the man that rebuilt this Liverpool side into the juggernaut it is/was. If it weren't for City's super teams, he'd have three League titles. As it is, Liverpool have been in four European finals, won the Prem, won the UCL, the FA Cup, League Cup.

Liverpool would be downright crazy to sack a generational manager like Klopp. It's not like they were winning trophies at ease before Klopp.

As a Gooner, I'd love to see Gerrard's pashun-ball at Liverpool. But let's not get carried away. I don't think Liverpool's owners are looney. Yet.

Their forwards and midfielders were actually good last night. They can still get top four IMHO.

They look like they’re shot. Tired and fed up of the geggencrap. Time for Klopp to take his heavy metal show to a new town.

Yes, they are only 6 points off the top 4, with 30 matches left to play - they can, and most likely will, get top 4.

Klopp has plenty of credit in the bank. If they don't allow him a bad season after what he's achieved there, then they're mentally ill. As an owner or a fan I would give him a pass, but only one pass.

Depends where he recovers them to, I'd expect top 4 still and if he does that I wouldn't even bat an eyelid. He's done such incredible things for them, he deserves a ridiculous amount of slack.

Looks to me that his faith in his system is shaken hence why he's changed from his famous 4-3-3 high pressure, hard attack to 4-2-3-1.

He said he's made the change as he felt teams wouldn't be able to work them out so easily but all I'm seeing is a team who lost Mane and needed to replace him better, Liverpool like their manager look lost, the effort is there but they like Klopp have lost faith in their direction, if I were Klopp I'd go back to it and push it even harder, his old Liverpool set up guarantees top 4 surely?

This happened to Mourhino as well, remember when he used to play that 4-2-3-1 defensive system, for years it served him well then one day he literally couldn't get it to work again.

I suppose Wenger had a similar issue.

That's why I respect Fergie so much, even when the clouds were closing on his career and football was changing, he still went out as Champion that year.

Well anyway Klopps failure is our gain, even now their hard attacks still cause us more trouble than any other team bar City, so their collapse is welcome.

  Actually, I had the misfortune to turn on Sky last night, just as Carragher started going through an examination of the LFC formation and how it came unstuck. I'm not normally very interested, but he showed how their back four didn't know how to react to a five man attack. It was basically...who the fk is going to mark/cover him as we ran at them. On the basis on that showing, I imagine LFC will change things around again.

Liverpool have made the same mistake we did.
They’ve hung on to players they should have got rid of sooner and replaced.
Players like Van Dijk and Salah should not still be there. Instead they are sitting on huge contracts as they go down hill.
I mean they even have Milner still featuring and Henderson recently got a new contract too. Players well past their best.
Klopp has been complacent in regenerating the squad.
They will now need to squeeze out what they can from some of these players whilst starting a proper rebuild.

Said before I look at their team and only their goalkeeper would get in our first team - and that’s only because Ramsdale is still young and learning.
It’s gone from probably none of our outfield players being good enough for their team to the complete opposite in 2 - 3 years.

Actually it was Klopp himself.

..........

With Jordan Henderson and Thiago the only recognised midfielders in the team, Liverpool look to be setting up in a 4-2-3-1

Klopp explained his decision to move away from his preferred 4-3-3 formation.

“We just thought we had to change and that’s what we did formation wise. Let’s see how it works out,” he said.

There’s never a perfect time to change, we had to change anyway. We felt it was right."
