Seems like a nice guy.

Ultimately he failed, and most managers get sacked when that happens. He just spent so much money.

They should be looking at Klopp, Ancelotti or Pardew imo. All 3 could really bring them back to where they should be. Top 4 will be getting harder and harder.

Never mention Ancelotti and Pardew in the same sentence.

Just occurred to me, after Chelsea's poor start, perhaps Liverpool administration thinks that they could challenge Chelsea/United for the 4th spot, which is why they want a manager with proven credentials?

As it is, Liverpool's squad isn't good enough, yet a top manager could do enough to help them challenge for that 4th spot - especially now with Chelsea struggling.

If that's the case, it's one of Klopp or Ancelotti coming in. Ancelotti is still recovering from his back surgery, so Klopp is likelier.

It has nothing to do w/ Chelsea, the decision was made well before this weekend and Rodger's interviews prior have hinted at this as well. Apparently FSG wanted him gone in the summer but Klopp wasn't ready to commit then. The rumours that he'll be taking over are too strong to be BS.

Not just yesterday's game, but look at where 'Pool stand right now. 12 points - 4 clear off Chelsea - 3 points behind 4th. This is Liverpool's chance to make it into the top-4 again. That had to play in their minds (Liverpool board). Because of Chelsea's poor start, 4th is wide open now and if a top manager could come in and get the results, Liverpool may very well end up in the CL. It's difficult. I still expect Chelsea to finish 4th, but it's sure an opportunity for Liverpool, which is what made them reactive.

If Chelsea were sailing smooth as last season, I think Rodgers would have stayed until the end of the season.

He had been playing the last few months with no top striker - you have to feel for him with only getting Sturridge back to fitness not to have a run of games with him in the side.

But ultimately the board had made up its mind. The breath taking pressing and ball movement in his early days had been replaced with a slow disjointed game style and was horrible to watch.

And Sakho who on this green earth plays this guy - Skrtle must have the sweats at nights about that guy.

Top 4 is wide open this year with chelsea being shit.

Convinced it will be us City and United top 3 with an almighty free for all to get 4th this year.

I think Liverpool must have Klopp already lined up and ready.

sold 124m on just two players....

he had his best 3 players ripped from under him over the last 2 seasons, the only remaining player is finally back from injury and the manager is greeted with the sack. terrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrible upper level management, should look at themselves for selling their best players before criticising rodgers for trying to make do.

Benteke was a good signing, Ings seems to be scoring a few so they're fine up front now Sturridge is back but he's had no time to work with all 3 of them. Their defence has been crap since he took over, that's nothing new.

We lost big players and still won the fourth place trophy. It's harsh but Rodgers wasn't good enough.

He actually had a very solid defence to build upon, an exciting young midfielder in Shelvey, some solid creativity in Coutinho, guaranteed goals in Sturridge, some effective wingers, and he's just bought a better plan B (Benteke) than we've had in a long time. But he wasted a lot of money on average players.

The squad as a whole are poor, but their best 11 was good enough for fourth. The man just isnt good enough to get then ti where they should be (plus his Swansea success was built on the foundation that Martinez laid).

His signings bar a select few have all been egregious and he can't drill a defence to save his life - their football went to shit as well.

Rightfully sacked, the only mistake is he should've been chopped in the summer. If they get Klopp the decision to axe him will be looked upon as a masterstroke.

Which is why Wenger got too much stick that he didn't deserve. He deserved it for other things but maintaining that 4th place genuinely was an achievement in some of the barren years. The fact we failed to aim for better was the problem.

Anyway, it's always the managers fault. Rodgers took the bullet.

What's better?

Aiming for fourth every season as we do and getting it showing no ambition for improvement or aiming higher or the title, not winning it but getting CL qualification anyway cos we finish top 4?
